Like all living things, trees can be affected by a serious disease that easily destroys any adult plant. Cytosporosis destroys even fruit trees, penetrating tenacious fungal spores into the bark of plantations, branches and cambium. A common infectious disease, as a rule, affects weak individuals and can cause serious damage to varietal fruit-bearing plants. The fight against cytosporosis of apple trees begins in early spring, when the tree does not feel surgical intervention and suffers any injury.
Manifestation of the disease
Apple tree cytosporosis can be seen even in the photo with the naked eye. Signs of such a disease appear in the form of dried bumpy areas on the bark of trees with foci of fungal spores.
The rough dots of the neoplasm strongly change the color of the trunk to reddish-brown, and any mechanical impact on the wood structure will easily damage the integrity of the tissues. The thin branches of fruit trees affected by such a disease dry up and do not recover even after medical therapy, so they are cut off, thereby blocking the further spread of the infectious fungus. The destructive cytosporosis of an apple tree or, in simple terms, drying out, if left untreated, can destroy the entire tree, and also infect nearby garden plantings.
Treatment
Based on many years of experience, through trial and error, scientists came to a single solution. Only by completely removing the damaged areas of the bark and dried branches can the focus of infection be eliminated and the further development of the fungal infection prevented. The tenacious disease shown in the photo, if it does not block access to wood, will infect the plant from the inside, gradually destroying all layers and cells of the fruit tree. To avoid such a fate, it is necessary to maintain the health of the garden by carrying out important agrotechnical measures in the prescribed manner. The technique for improving disease resistance has long been known and is suitable for any fruit plantations and ornamental trees.
Preventive Prevention
- Every year in spring and late autumn, whitewashing of the trunks of all trees is carried out in the gardens. It maintains the immunity of plantings and disinfects cracks in the bark resulting from frost and sunburn. Also, this healing solution helps to restore the damaged surface of the wood from the teeth of hares and speeds up the healing process.
- Also in the spring, before the buds swell, it is necessary to carry out the first spraying with the Homa solution, then repeat the procedure before flowering, but also using copper sulfate. The third spraying with the prepared Homa solution should be done after the flowering of fruit trees. The disease will recede if you strictly follow the instructions of experienced gardeners and do not forget about therapy.
- Regular application of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers according to the scheme will give rapid growth to young shoots and a good harvest by autumn. In this case, it is important not to overfeed the tree, but to apply the exact amount of chemicals required. Fertilizer accounting helps plan follow-up activities. Such top dressing for each locality is individual, and one cannot do without the advice of specialists when planning the concentration of the composition.
Garden Healing Tips
In November, and also with the arrival of early spring in the month of March, if damaged areas on the tree are found with fungal eczema, it is necessary to clean the wood with a knife to a healthy tissue. Then treat the places of the cut sections with copper and iron sulfate (dissolve 20-30 g of the composition in 1 liter of warm water).
After that, you can cover all the wounds with garden mortar or cover them with ordinary oil paint. Such therapy will give a positive result and stop the infection of new branches and tree trunks. Intensive treatment must be carried out with the ruthless destruction of already damaged branches. Moreover, such a disease irrevocably spoils the affected parts of the tree, which even over time will not be able to recover. In order not to spread the spores of a fungal infection, you need to burn all the cut sections of the plant in the fire and then do not lose vigilance, but carefully monitor the condition of the entire garden. Annual disease prevention will preserve the riot of greenery and please you with good harvests of fruit trees.
