The feeding of the first settlers

The Junta de Castilla y León, through the Museum of Human Evolution (MEH), organize this event halfway between history and nutrition, where you will be able to know how the first inhabitants of the continent ate.

Hosting the event is the non-profit organization Living Paleolithic, directed by a group of biologists, naturalists and scientists whose main objective is the promotion and conservation of nature, endangered species and their balance with man within the Defense and Study of Ecosystems.

The experience that he now proposes to us is an Immersion in Prehistory through Paleolithic gastronomy, where the best specialists in prehistoric culinary activities will recount us a fantastic two-day trip around the habits and customs back in the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic.

Companies that Gastronomic Days of Prehistory, are sponsored by the Professor Juan Luis Arsuaga, Professor of Paleontology at the Complutense University of Madrid and Director of the UCM-ISCIII Center for Human Evolution and Behavior, known above all to the general public for the Excavations in the Sierra de Atapuerca and its impressive findings.

Along with him, a large number of scientists, cooks, educators and artists will participate, who will give content to the entire program of activities that will take place on July 23 and 24.

    10:00 h Talk: Animals and plants consumed in the Upper Paleolithic.

    12:00 h Show-cooking in Paleolithic mode. URO and Pheasant meat with nuts.

    15:30 h Workshop: Fishing techniques in prehistory

    16:30 h Workshop: The nutritional value of food in the Paleolithic.

    19:00 pm Show-cooking and Mesolithic dinner. Rabbit meat with mussels, cockles, clams, fish and

    dry fruits.

    23:00 h Neonymus concert in the stone hills.

  • On Sunday, July 24. The Neolithic

    9:30 a.m. Talk. Legumes and cereals consumed in the Neolithic Age.

    10:30 am Collection of firewood and workshop on fire techniques.

    11:30 am Milling of acorns for the preparation of bread.

    12: 00h Show-cooking and Neolithic lunch. Tarpan Horse stew with mushrooms and lentils in a clay pot. Grilled partridge and Becada, cereal potatoes, acorn cake and fruit with honey.

    15: 30h Workshop. Hunting in prehistory. Thrusters, bows and arrows.

    17: 00h Closing of the conference
