The faucet in the Bosch dishwasher is on – what to do

If the Bosch dishwasher gives an error and the “faucet” indicator lights up, you need to find out the reason for this behavior. The self-diagnosis system may be warning you of problems. Let’s find out why the indicator lights up and what it means.

For what reasons is the “faucet” on the panel lit or flashing

In the article “Dishwasher indicators and iconsWe have detailed their meaning.

  • If the “faucet” light on the control panel lights up (next to the water supply button), and at the same time the dishwasher works normally, everything is fine. So, water for washing began to flow into the car.
  • If you notice that the water supply indicator is on or flashing, while the machine beeps, and water does not get into the hopper, there are problems.

The explanation of this problem in the instructions is as follows: there is no water supply. What could be the reason:

  1. The intake filter is clogged.
  2. There were problems with the filling valve (broken, clogged).
  3. Incorrect connection of the drain system. Self-draining occurs.
  4. Faulty water sprayer in the chamber.

All of the above signs can be indicated code E15. If error E15 is on the PMM display and a tap is drawn, there may be a problem with Aquastop leakage protection.

In various models of the Bosch dishwasher, it can be full and partial.

Due to leakage, water enters the pan of the machine. With full protection, there is a float sensor that works. As a result, a fault code is displayed on the display.

When the protection is partial, there is an absorbent sponge in the inlet hose. As soon as a leak occurs, the sponge is saturated with water and blocks access to the system. Read more about Aquastop for dishwashers in a separate article.

Important! A large amount of foam can lead to leakage and operation of the protection. Control the amount of detergent.

How to troubleshoot a Bosch dishwasher

Start by checking the “Aquastop” – it happens that the sensor just sticks in the pan. Inspect the housing and hose connections for leaks. If everything is in order, do this:

  • Pull the PMM plug from the socket.
  • Tilt the technique from side to side so that the float returns to its normal position.
  • Drain the water that got into the pan.
  • Let the car dry.

Also inspect the hose. If you are convinced that the mechanical protection has worked, the inlet hose needs to be completely replaced.

Water supply problems

The error sign has disappeared, but the “faucet” is still on? Then you need to check the filling system.

  • Shut off the water supply by turning off the inlet valve.
  • If you installed a flow filter, remove it and check for blockage.
  • Disconnect the fill hose from the body. Rinse it under running water.
  • Take out the mesh filter. Often it is clogged with rust and scale. If dirt cannot be removed with ordinary water, place the filter in a solution of water and citric acid.

The last thing to check is the intake valve. For Bosch dishwashers, it is often located in the lower part of the case.

Unscrew the fastening screws and remove the decorative panel from below – behind it is a valve. Disconnect wiring plugs.

Checking the electronic part of the valve is carried out with a multimeter. Connect its probes to the contacts of the part, measure the resistance. The working device should show from 500 to 1500 ohms.

To test the mechanical part, apply operating voltage (220 V) to the valve and see if the diaphragm opens or not. In case of any malfunction, the element must be replaced. Unscrew the fixing screw, remove the old part and install a new one.

When buying an inlet hose, make sure that the marking matches the old sample. Otherwise, you can select an inappropriate element.

Additionally, check the sprayers:

  • Open the hopper door.
  • Pull out the baskets.
  • Remove the upper and lower spray arms from their position.
  • Rinse under the tap. The nozzles can be cleaned with a toothpick.

Sometimes the leakage sensor can be the cause of such problems. Perhaps it is out of order or transmits incorrect signals to the module. Then you need to diagnose and, if necessary, replace the sensor.

Self draining

Is the faucet indicator flashing? Then check the correct connection of the dishwasher to the drain:

  1. The drain hose must be positioned 45 cm from the floor.
  2. You need to create the right bend to avoid self-draining into the sewer.

The control board recognizes the problem as insufficient water level in the tank. That is, in the allotted time, the machine was not able to collect enough water. How to connect a dishwasher, read in a separate article. Monitor and take care of your equipment. Read about how to clean a dishwasher.
