The British variant of the virus is very dangerous, it spreads with great intensity, so introducing local restrictions where there is the most of it is most justified – infectious disease expert Prof. Joanna Zajkowska from the University Teaching Hospital in Białystok.

The new restrictions, including the closure of swimming pools, hotels, shopping malls, cultural institutions and gyms, will apply in the province. According to prof. Zajkowska, the regional introduction of additional restrictions is justified.

She assessed in an interview with PAP that the British variant of the virus is very dangerous and spreads with great intensity, so where there is an increased number of cases, it is worth limiting the possibility of its spread.

At the same time, she said that “such lockdowns are complementary because the most important thing is still to keep your distance, disinfect your hands, wear masks and educate yourself”.

Zajkowska pointed out that people are already tired, but – she noted – “maybe it is worth gritting your teeth and surviving a little longer”. In this context, she pointed out that the upcoming Easter time would be conducive to family meetings, and it was they who mainly – she said – contribute to the spread of the coronavirus.

“Let’s keep our senses for a few more weeks” – appealed prof. Zajkowska. (PAP)
