During the Wednesday press conference, the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, encouraged to ventilate the rooms on a regular basis. As he explained, it is one of the tools that will help us control the epidemic. But can we ventilate properly? Here are some helpful tips.
– The apartment should be aired for 5-10 minutes every hour during an epidemic, because the lack of air exchange can have a huge impact on the spread of the coronavirus in homes – such a recommendation was presented by Gaetano Settimo expert from the Italian Institute of Health Services.
Airing the Coronavirus Way
In a statement quoted by the media, the head of the department for environment and health at the national institute noted that in homes, people pay little attention to the need for air exchange, which in turn can contribute to the spread of SARS-CoV-2 molecules in a confined space.
Settimo added that all domestic appliances, such as air conditioners – including those with a heating function – do not exchange air, but only move what is already in the room.
— That is why it is important to open windows and balconies for at least 5-10 minutes every hour – the expert recommended pointing to a simple step that he believes may contribute to the prevention of coronavirus infections.
As you can see, this should be remembered especially during the upcoming holidays, spent at home, even if in a smaller group than usual.
According to a recent study by Lombardy specialists, more than 90 percent of infections now occur at home and during family gatherings.
