The energy of desire is the strength and quantity of desires. The energy of desire is one of the foundations of success in life.
The Buddha said: “Getting rid of all desires is the way to happiness!” It’s true, wishing hard is painful. But the solution is not to get rid of desires — by old age, most desires die off almost automatically.
When desires go away, people don’t become happy: people become apathetic. They no longer need anything, they no longer hurt — but this is not happiness. This is indifference. Happiness lies in wanting and getting what you want. And a lot of happiness lies in wishing a lot and getting a lot of what you want, without upsetting yourself if you didn’t get something from what you wanted today.
A successful person has energetic, developed desires. He wants a lot, he has something to wake up for every day, and he does not just work out what others expect from him, he does what he wants. He wants. He dares to want. How much, how much do you want?
