Theory
A half-liter bottle of beer, depending on the strength, contains 20-40 grams of pure ethanol. Even this amount of alcohol is enough to dilate the blood vessels a little and lower blood pressure. As a rule, after 6-8 hours the indicator returns to its original value.
However, many beer drinkers find it hard to stop at one bottle. The more alcohol enters the bloodstream, the sharper the pressure jump and the shorter the time interval between its decrease and subsequent increase. Moreover, in this case, the pressure rises above the initial level.
As long as the vessels are healthy, they can withstand such loads relatively easily. But weakened and covered with cholesterol plaques, the walls of blood vessels lose their elasticity and can burst. Excessive consumption of beer at high blood pressure often leads to a stroke.
The reaction of the body to alcohol is individual. For example, there are people whose pressure does not change at all even from a few mugs of beer. In others, the changes are more pronounced. But in any case, this drink should not be taken as a medicine to increase or decrease blood pressure. In case of any deviations from the norm, it is necessary to consult a doctor and strictly follow his recommendations.
Is it possible to drink beer with high blood pressure
It would seem that if beer in moderate doses lowers blood pressure, then it is even useful for hypertensive patients. However, not all so simple.
Doctors usually prescribe drugs for people with high blood pressure to keep it within the normal range. If the tablets are enclosed in a special shell, then they are designed for gradual absorption. Alcohol dissolves the shell of the tablet, and medicinal substances are much faster absorbed into the blood. Instead of a therapeutic effect, a sharp intoxication of the body occurs, the side effect of the drug is significantly enhanced.
Beer combined with blood pressure medication can cause dizziness, nausea, fainting, and even a stroke. Therefore, those who constantly take antihypertensive drugs will have to completely abandon beer, even non-alcoholic (it also contains ethyl alcohol in small quantities).
But even if a hypertensive person does not take medication, he should be extremely careful about beer. When drinking this drink, you need to consider that:
- beer causes appetite, and overeating leads to obesity;
- almost all foods that are used to eat beer: dried or smoked fish, crackers, chips, nuts, smoked cheese, salted or pickled vegetables contain a lot of salt, which increases blood pressure;
- it is especially dangerous to drink beer in the heat, when the risk of a hypertensive attack is already high.
Можно ли пить пиво при пониженном давлении
In no case should the intake of drugs intended to normalize pressure in case of hypotension be combined with the use of ordinary or non-alcoholic beer: just like with hypertension, alcohol neutralizes the therapeutic effect, but enhances side effects.
In addition, low blood pressure can be the result of stomach ulcers, gastritis, and various diseases of the endocrine system. Alcohol is contraindicated for people with such diagnoses, even in small doses.
Pressure surges due to the use of large doses of beer are also dangerous for hypotensive patients. Abuse of this drink can lead to a microstroke.
Often, low blood pressure is the result of diets and physical activity aimed at weight loss. Beer at low pressure has a positive effect on hemoglobin levels, relieves fatigue and the effects of stress. But you need to be prepared for the fact that the drink causes appetite, and all multi-day efforts aimed at losing weight can go down the drain because of a few mugs of beer.
conclusions
Злоупотреблять пивом нельзя даже абсолютно здоровым людям. Если же давление повышено или понижено, нужно руководствоваться следующими правилами:
- in no case should you drink beer on the day of taking any drugs, and ideally for at least two days after it (unless a longer period is indicated in the instructions for medicines);
- do not quench your thirst with beer in the heat;
- you can’t drink beer if you feel unwell, as this can provoke an attack;
- the best “beer” time is evening. You can’t drink beer at lunch if physical labor is ahead in the afternoon (for example, work on a personal plot);
- preference should be given to “live” beer. It contains vitamins of group B, which strengthen the walls of blood vessels (in 500 g of the drink – 16% of the daily value of vitamin B6);
- for hypertensive patients, non-alcoholic beer is much safer than regular beer;
- with increased pressure, it is not recommended to eat beer with smoked meats. Lightly salted cheeses, unsalted nuts, vegetable salads are best suited as an appetizer. At low pressure, there are no such restrictions;
- with increased pressure, the permissible dose of the drink is 1-2 cups no more than twice a week. This also applies to non-alcoholic beer;
- if a person, after drinking beer, feels bad, you should immediately seek help.
