— I decided to report the matter to the patient’s spokesman in our hospital. I have reported to myself pointing out that such admission of patients is a violation of their rights. It was a cry of despair on my part. A man waits several months for such an appointment, and his time at the doctor’s office is just over six minutes. During this time, it is impossible to reliably help the patient — admits Dr. Maciej Jedliński in an interview with Interia.
Jedliński works as a vascular surgeon at the Independent Public Provincial Hospital Pope John Paul II in Zamość for almost 15 years. During this time, the number of patients enrolled in him was gradually increasing, and the time for an appointment was successively shorter. Initially, the doctor had a quarter of an hour to talk to the patient, then 10 minutes. Now the visit time has been reduced to just over six minutes. It happened that on the busiest days Jedliński had to examine 28 people in three hours.
During this time, the doctor must talk to the patient, see the wound, remove the stitches, apply a new dressing, direct further treatment, write a prescription and refer for further tests.
The Ministry of Health referred to the matter in an interview with Interia. The representatives of the ministry emphasized that the doctor is responsible for the proper course of treatment and manages it. In other words, he should decide how much time he will devote to each patient.
