Developing thinking in children through games

Play is one of the main children’s activities, during which a personality is formed. During the game, the kid consolidates the previously acquired knowledge, acquires new skills and abilities, develops his mental abilities.

It is useful for children:

  • observe natural phenomena, flora and fauna;
  • collect puzzles and constructors of varying complexity;
  • draw from memory or from nature;
  • study masterpieces of all types of art;
  • create abstract images of those concepts that cannot be seen;
  • to sculpt different figures from plasticine or clay;
  • compare items according to different parameters;
  • work with natural materials, paper and cardboard;
  • draw using the hand that is less involved.

You need to work with preschoolers in a favorable environment so that they feel confident and free. Be kind to all the achievements of the baby, even if it seems to you that they are not so significant.

Classes should not be dry and boring, they should be carried out in an easy playful way to keep the kid interested. One of the keys to successful learning is the use of vivid illustrative materials. They help to visually see and imagine everything.

Features of thinking depending on age

Younger preschoolers are guided by external actions. They mostly use trial and error. When the kid finally finds the right solution, he remembers it and then uses it in similar tasks.

Toddlers of middle preschool age act in the same way, only they think over all possible decisions in their heads. The option that seemed correct to them, they try to put into practice on their own.

By the age of 5-6, the baby begins to perform actions in the mind, while he no longer uses objects, but their images.

Future first graders solve tasks in their heads, but at the same time use generalized images that reflect only those qualities of objects that can help them in solving the problem.

Parents do not need to be afraid to give the kid difficult, at first glance, tasks. After all, they help teach the little person to believe in himself and his abilities, and the solution can be found together. On the basis of figurative thinking, a logical one is formed, and this is very important not only during school, but also in life in general.
