The cost of motherhood: a woman showed what it is like to undergo IVF

She took just one picture of her newborn daughter and it went viral instantly.

A little girl, wrapped in multi-colored diapers, lies on a soft mat surrounded by … hundreds of syringes laid out around her in the shape of a heart. The baby is sleeping peacefully. And this is not Photoshop – the syringes are the most real. They are really scattered around the girl.

No, the baby’s health is all right. These syringes are a symbol of what her mother had to endure in order for her precious crumb to be born. It is impossible to count syringes. But my mother knows exactly how many there are – 1 pieces.

Mom’s name is Kimberly O’Neill. She struggled with infertility for four long years. 7 IVF attempts, 3 miscarriages. The first pregnancy was terminated in the fourth week. The second is on the eighth. The third – on the eleventh, when Kimberly already knew that there would be a boy. Should have been … But the baby’s heart stopped.

It was all about Kimberly’s blood. Increased clotting, tendency to blood clots. When the fourth implantation was made and the embryo engrafted, Kimberly began injecting blood thinning heparin into the abdomen. And they did it until the very end of pregnancy. A total of 1 injections. And finally, baby London was born.

Samantha Packer said she put syringes around baby London for over an hour. As photographer Samantha Packer explained, my mother wanted to show with this picture how much she wanted a child and what her strength was for her unborn daughter. After all, not everyone is capable of enduring so much torment.

“It was worth it. With this shot, I want to show everyone that there is always hope. There is no need to despair. Go to your dream, ”said Kimberly.

This photo went viral on Facebook, where Samantha posted it. In two weeks it was reposted almost 70 thousand times.
