«The End» of the pandemic in Poland – what has changed?
Due to the declining number of infections and deaths due to COVID-19, the government decided to lift covid restrictions. From Monday, people crossing the borders of the Republic of Poland and co-members of the infected with SARS-CoV-2 do not have to undergo quarantine. It is only recommended, which means that if you suspect infection or know about contact with someone with COVID-19, you should monitor your body. In case of health deterioration – limit interpersonal contacts.
Compulsory isolation has also been lifted for people who tested positive for the coronavirus. Doctors, however, call for self-isolation if you notice symptoms of Omikron. If our well-being does not allow us to work, we can go to the doctor for a sick leave. If COVID-19 is confirmed, it is issued for a minimum of seven days.
The primary health care physician may also refer the patient for a test. It will be an antigen test, available at the clinic, which the patient will perform on the spot, and the doctor will enter the result into the system. On this basis, he will also issue the patient with L4.

When it comes to masks, it is not necessary to put them on in most places where it has been an obligation for the last two years, e.g. in shops, public transport or in a church. However, you still need to cover your nose and mouth when entering a pharmacy, hospital, clinic, doctor’s office or surgery, and other medical entities.

The Minister of Health also recommends wearing masks wherever it is impossible to keep distance and the room is small and poorly ventilated. This protection should not be given up by people who are at risk of severe COVID-19, e.g. seniors, chronically ill, cancer patients or people with impaired immunity.
Adam Niedzielski also decided to end the special mode of financing some covid benefits. COVID-19 treatment benefits will be billed as other medical services. On April 1, financing of temporary hospitals and special covid wards is also ending. However, funding will still be provided for vaccination and postovid rehabilitation.

Although in Poland the number of covid cases and deaths is decreasing, in the world SARS-CoV-2 is not forgiving. Many countries, including Europe, are struggling with a new wave of infections caused by the Omikron BA.2 sub-variant.
This mutation was first detected in the Philippines and was initially called “invisible” – all because there was no genetic change that made it impossible to distinguish BA.2 from other coronavirus variants). However, it is known that the sub-variant is very infectious and quickly became the main variant of the Omicron in many countries around the world. Globally, BA.2 is now responsible for 86 percent of the cases reported to the World Health Organization in the last month.
