The consequences of an ectopic pregnancy
The consequences of an ectopic pregnancy can be quite serious. Sometimes the fact that the fetus is not fixed in the uterus, but outside of it, becomes obvious too late, when it is already impossible to do without surgical intervention. Sometimes the operation does not affect the state of the body in the best way.
Ectopic pregnancy and its consequences
Unfortunately, if the embryo is not fixed in the uterus, there is no chance of successfully carrying the child, while the woman will need some time for full rehabilitation and recovery of physical strength.
The consequences of an ectopic pregnancy can be as follows:
- Removing the pipe. If the tube has been ruptured by a growing fertilized egg, often doctors have no choice but to remove it. This does not deprive the woman of the opportunity to become pregnant in the future, provided that the second tube remains intact. But conception can take a long time, since it is not known in which ovary ovulation will occur.
- Failure of the pipe to maintain its function. Sometimes the tube can be preserved, but the cilia on its mucous membranes are no longer able to move the fertilized egg into the uterus. This threatens a relapse of an ectopic pregnancy.
- Inflammatory processes. They are dangerous primarily because they provoke the formation of adhesions. The already thin lumens of the fallopian tubes are overgrown with connective tissue. This deprives the ovum of the opportunity to descend into the uterus, and thus infertility is formed.
The consequences of an ectopic pregnancy will appear in any case, but the earlier the pathology was diagnosed, the less serious they will be. Even if an operation has occurred, this is not a sentence, the chance of getting pregnant remains.
A more serious situation is considered when both pipes are removed. In this case, in order to get pregnant, you will have to resort to the procedure of artificial insemination – IVF.
To avoid a recurrence of an ectopic pregnancy and to minimize its consequences, you need to be carefully examined before the next attempt to conceive. It is important to completely eliminate all inflammatory processes, pass tests for sexually transmitted infections, check the state of the ovaries on an ultrasound scan. If desired, you can go through the procedure for checking the patency of pipes. It is best to visit a qualified professional and work with him to plan the survey.
