The child speaks in the nose: why, reasons, what to do

If a child speaks through the nose, it is not fatal, but unpleasant. To fix such a problem, you need to figure out why it arose.

Most often, the baby is nasal due to colds and runny nose. In this case, it is clear that after recovery, the baby will begin to speak normally. However, sometimes there is no cold or snot, but the baby still speaks through his nose.

The child speaks through the nose for various reasons.

Here’s why this happens:

  • ear disease, in this case, the problem is aggravated by hearing impairment;
  • adenoids, that is, inflammation of the tonsils in a chronic form;
  • weak articulation;
  • polyps;
  • paralysis of the palate after suffering diphtheria;
  • curvature of the nasal septum;
  • swelling of the mucous membrane.

In rare cases, nasal nasalism occurs due to cleavage of the hard or soft palate. It can be congenital, for example, if the mother smoked during pregnancy, or acquired, for example, due to mechanical injury. In this case, it is difficult for the child to swallow food, he has problems with the flow of air into the lungs.

What to do if the baby speaks through the nose for one of the following reasons

The most important thing is to quickly overcome nasalism if it is associated with breathing problems. In this case, the child constantly breathes through the mouth, microbes and bacteria freely enter his body, as a result, he often suffers from sore throat and other diseases. In addition, the lack of air will negatively affect the internal organs, the brain, and the development of the baby.

Show the disgusting child to the otolaryngologist.

If the otolaryngologist does not find any abnormalities in his industry, he will redirect the baby to a speech therapist. In this case, the doctor will engage in special gymnastics with the child, massage him. This will restore the vocal apparatus and remove nasal sounds.

The choice of a method for treating polyps and adenoids remains with the specialist. As for the splitting of the sky, then there is only one way out – the operation. It is best done as early as possible. An operation performed before 3 years of age will pass without any complications. However, even a later similar operation is tolerated by the child quite easily. If you do not get rid of the cleavage, the child will remain nasal for life.

Don’t try to deal with the problem alone. If you cannot understand why it has arisen, contact your pediatrician. Even if you have determined the cause, talk to your doctor before starting treatment. Do not delay going to a specialist, since the nasal tone will not go away on its own, it can lead to the development of complexes in the child.
