The child’s right to education: receiving, free
The child’s right to education is enshrined in the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Accordingly, school education is available to everyone. Every child is obliged to receive basic general education in Russia. Parents are obliged to supervise the child’s education at school.
Free education for children
A child is a person under the age of 18. School education in our country is provided free of charge. School education is divided into primary, basic and secondary education. The child, if desired, can replace secondary school with secondary vocational education.
In the Convention on the Rights of the Child, 2 articles are devoted to the education of children.
It says that:
- The state is obliged to provide every child with a place in an educational institution free of charge to receive compulsory primary education and general secondary. A child with special needs has the right to a place in a specialized educational institution.
- Teachers must respect the dignity of the child and not hurt him physically or mentally.
- As a result of schooling, a comprehensively developed personality should be formed.
- The school must be state or municipal, and its funding comes from the funds of the corresponding budget.
- School education should reveal the different abilities of children. In the process of teaching a child, it is necessary to instill respect for parents, the environment, and the culture of not only one’s own country, but also other states.
- It is inadmissible to infringe on rights on the basis of ethnicity, gender, religion or any other basis.
Our state guarantees the availability of education for all its citizens. At the same time, it does not matter nationality, gender or origin of a person. Education can be obtained by a person with any social and material status.
Education for a child is the responsibility of parents
According to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, every child is obliged to receive basic general education.
Parents are obliged to control the attendance of their children in an educational institution. If parents do not fulfill this responsibility, they will be punished:
- Administrative – payment of a fine.
- Criminal – payment of a fine, correctional labor, arrest.
School attendance by children is a prerequisite for their upbringing.
Thus, the state, as well as their parents, is responsible for providing children with the necessary education. The state provides the child with a place in school and finances the education process. And parents make sure that children regularly attend school and do their homework.
