The cheese of Spain, valued worldwide
Every year the World Cheese Awards is held, an event that allows us to know which are the best cheeses in the world.
This 2020, however, the situation we are going through has prevented these from being held, so we will have to wait until November 2021 to know the new ranking.
However, reviewing last year’s list, we find how 18 Spanish cheeses received the “Super Gold” rating as proof of their quality. Now, how is this event celebrated? What Spanish cheeses received this distinction? We answer both questions, below:
Last edition of the World Cheese Awards
Last year the event was held in Bergamo, traveling for the first time to Italy, and coinciding with the FORME cheese festival. The jury was made up of about 250 experts and more than 3500 cheeses from all over the world participated, specifically, from 40 countries.
To value each cheese, the jury has to divide into small groups of various awards. Then, each team proposes an exceptional cheese, which receives the rating of “Super Gold” that we have already mentioned.
Y, Finally, a 16-member jury selects and determines the final ranking of the best cheeses in the world, among which the cheese from Spain stands out, valued worldwide.
In short, a global event that brings together cheesemakers, retailers, buyers, consumers and commentators from around the world.
