Animals are also capable of feelings, and people recognize this, notice and appreciate it. In Switzerland, a cat conquered a three-kilometer peak in the hope of reuniting with her family, and in Spain, pets were even recognized as equal to people at the legislative level.
Brothers from the Swiss city of Sachseln Cyril and Eric Rohrer were climbing the three-kilometer Mount Britsen when they suddenly heard a meow. “It was about four in the morning, we were at an altitude of 1200 meters, when a plaintive meow came from the dark forest. We were frightened and could not understand what was happening. When we approached the cat, we saw that she was also very scared,” the climbers said.
Apparently, the animal ran away from the owner’s house and got lost. The Rohrers decided they would pick up the cat on the way back. But not wanting to be alone, and also, apparently hoping for an early reunion with her family, she followed the tourists straight to the top.
Sometimes the brothers had to take the cat in their arms or put it in a backpack, as she was exhausted, and her paws were very cold. “I felt very sorry for the animal. On the way to the top, she was already completely exhausted and exhausted, ”said one of the Rohrers.
Already at the end of the journey, Cyril and Eric met a tourist group that was returning to the station and agreed to take the tired cat with them.
As a result, it turned out that the animal disappeared four days ago from its home in a nearby town. Rohrers suggested that in two days she climbed to the top three times for people in the hope that she would be helped to return to her family. “Animals are capable of many things. They are much tougher than people. They will never give up, even if they really hurt,” said Cyril.
Fortunately, the real owners of the cat were soon found and immediately took her home.
Animals are really capable of overcoming difficulties and experiencing feelings, just like people. And this is recognized at the legislative level in Spain.
According to the new law, cats, dogs and other pets can experience negative emotions in the event of a divorce of their owners. In this regard, now it will be decided who should have a beloved dog after breaking the bonds of marriage, in a judicial proceeding – in the same way as it is decided in relation to children.
In addition, pet abuse is now considered the same crime as if the owner abused another person.
However, if someone finds an abandoned pet on the street, under the new rules, he is required to report it to the police.
“We are changing our mentality and consider animals as living beings capable of feeling pain, happiness, sadness. They are not furniture and they are not the characters of the show,” said civil rights lawyer Lola Garcia. France, Germany, Austria and Portugal have previously granted the same legal status to animals.
