An incredibly frank letter from a British woman, where she honestly admits what kind of life she wants for her child, exploded the Internet.
What can you hear in response to the question of what kind of fate do parents want for their precious child? First of all, “to make him happy.” A good job, material well-being, the love of a lifetime – these are all particulars. But Jocelyn Cook, the mother of baby Megan, went much further in her dreams.
She has almost completely planned the life of her daughter. Joe’s main goal is to successfully marry Megan. Requirements for the candidate have already been formulated. But Megan was barely six months old!
Jocelyn shared her hopes and aspirations on her social media page.
“I want Megan, my only child, to marry well. I have already found a young man who, I think, will suit her perfectly. His name is Edward, he has a charming smile, dark hair, blue eyes, and he is always dressed to the point. Moreover, he has wealthy parents, and their home in Kent exudes wealth and impeccable taste, ”writes Jocelyn.
The future mother-in-law knows almost everything about the family with which she intends to become related through her daughter: where the parents of the potential groom work, how much money they have, even what kind of view opens from the terrace of their magnificent house. And she is not at all embarrassed that Edward is not even a year old.
“It may surprise you that I am so frank about my plans for Meghan. But just as wealthy parents plan for their children to study at Eton, so I will lead my girl to her feminine happiness, ”the mother demonstrates her firm intentions.
Jocelyn doesn’t even mind being compared to Mrs. Bennett, the mother of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. She, too, more than anything else wanted her daughters to marry successfully.
After the requirements for the groom, Jocelyn goes on to list the merits of her daughter – you must show the product with her face: “Megan is a wonderful child, she has blonde hair, cute little dimples on her cheeks, big blue eyes and delicate feminine features. I am confident that she will grow into a beautiful young woman, and her physical attractiveness, I hope, will give her an edge. ”
However, Joe makes a reservation that she literally cannot choose a husband for her daughter – suddenly she does not like him. But to design such an environment in which Meghan can find the husband of her mother’s dreams, Jocelyn is quite capable.
For example, sending a child to a good university is expensive, but Megan will be surrounded there by exceptionally worthy candidates for husbands. Remember, just like in the movie “How to Marry a Millionaire” with Marilyn Monroe. There, too, the heroines left their last money in an expensive hotel in order to find a worthy sacrifice among its guests and once and for all solve their material problems.
It sounds funny, but to the thought that for her daughter the best way to achieve well-being in life is a successful marriage, Jocelyn was led … by feminist sentiments. “Women, whatever one may say, are paid less than a man is paid for the same job. My husband and I have to work hard and hard to ensure ourselves a decent standard of living. I don’t want Megan to have to plow in the same way to support herself, ”sums up the mother. And therefore, “the desire to find an ideal husband should prevail over the desire to get a profession and slavishly hump all my life.”
Torn between kids and work? No, this is not what a loving mother wants for her child. “A young businessman or banker who can afford to pay for the services of a housekeeper and nanny” – this is much more like an ideal life.
“I am happy with my life. I have a wonderful loving husband. But we all dream of the best for our children. Remaining mediocre and always being second is not that. That is why I have plans for young Edward. And when Meghan celebrates her first birthday next April (not at the godforsaken McDonald’s, but in a chic little cafe), I’ll make sure Edward gets an invitation with a gold border. “
