Constant neck or head pain? Perhaps it’s not an uncomfortable pillow or changeable weather. Unpleasant sensations may signal that you have taken on too much responsibility. How to be in such a situation?
Responsibility is a necessary quality for an adult. But what happens to the body when someone takes on an unbearable burden and tries to be responsible for literally everything? How do these emotions affect health?
The whole world is on my shoulders
Do you know the expression “they sat on my neck”? Or “I carry everything on my shoulders”? The posture of a person who is burdened with excessive responsibility undergoes characteristic changes – as a rule, it is the cervical spine that suffers.
Most often, problems with the neck are observed in women: we have to admit that we ladies are still more emotional creatures than men. And it is more difficult for us to cope with experiences when we take on a lot.
When women come to my school complaining of neck pain, I often play the soothsayer. “Probably,” I ask, “do you have a very responsible job?” And in 90% of cases I get sincere surprise: “How did you know? Yes, I have my own business … ”Or“ I manage a department, there are many subordinates. The remaining 10% of visitors object: “No, I don’t work – I have two (three, four) children, and it’s so hard with them!”
No matter what type of responsibility we take on our shoulders: if this activity is depressing, the neck will respond to emotional stress with very real muscle tension.
Alarms
The more the neck muscles tighten in response to experiences, the less nutrition the intervertebral discs receive – and this leads to their degenerative changes, to osteochondrosis. How does the cervical spine signal that it’s time to take care of it?
1. Pain in the neck: especially brightly, she can report herself in the morning after sleep, slightly less strong sensations can appear in the evenings after a working day.
2. Headache – can also develop in the morning after sleeping in an uncomfortable position or in the evening after a busy day. If there is tension in the neck, the outflow of blood from the head slows down. This means that the flow of fresh, oxygen-rich blood is also difficult. And the brain – as the most demanding organ for nutrition – immediately signals this imbalance with a headache.
3. High blood pressure – this problem develops gradually and signals itself, as a rule, with age. If the brain is regularly oxygen deficient, what can the body do to help it? That’s right: increase the pressure, then the blood will definitely flow into the head.
The person who has encountered these symptoms obviously does not like them – he is trying to quickly get rid of discomfort with the help of drugs. But it should be remembered that they arose with a purpose: the body is always on our side, and with pain or pressure surges it solves the problem that has arisen.
Therefore, all doctors unanimously say: headache pills or drugs that reduce blood pressure are not a panacea. It is necessary to eliminate the cause of the symptoms that have arisen.
A course of relaxation
Knowing the mechanics of the development of symptoms, we better understand what needs to be done to restore the health of the cervical spine, get rid of headaches and normalize blood pressure:
- Exercises to relax the muscles of the neck. Your course is on relaxation, so stretching exercises or other aggressive techniques will not work. As soon as the neck muscles restore normal tone, the blood supply to the brain normalizes, and there will be no reason for pain – both in the neck and in the head.
- Osteopathic work is also aimed at relaxing muscles and normalizing the functioning of the nervous system.
- Massage is gentle, relaxing, gentle. Without stretching, pain, and even more crunch (reduction of the vertebrae). Any aggressive techniques are additional microtraumas that will eventually make themselves felt.
But not only emotions affect the structure of the body – the reverse is also true: the structure of the body sets the emotional background. It is worth building a natural beautiful posture, restoring the correct position of the neck and relaxing the usual muscle tension – and the emotional background will change.
You will not become less responsible – you will become more balanced, calm and efficient. The flexibility of the spine is directly related to emotional flexibility – they are called the same for a reason!
