The benefits of baking soda for your pet
Want to avoid chemicals to take care of your pet? Do you know the multiple uses of baking soda?
Sanitize the basket or litter
The dog’s basket or the cat’s litter box rarely smells of roses. In some cases even this wet dog smell is persistent and is not not easy to evacuate, especially when living in an apartment. Did you know that the baking soda you use from the kitchen to the bathroom, for cleaning or for cosmetics, can also help you in this case?
Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda (food) in the bottom of your dog’s basket. Likewise, whenever you change your cat’s litter box, remember to sprinkle the bottom of the tray with baking soda before pouring in the new litter. This will help sanitize, absorb odors, and even scare away fleas that try to settle there.
A natural shampoo
It’s bath time ! A hard moment for the dog as for his master… You could make this ritual more pleasant by using a product that respects the hair and skin of your companion on all fours. Baking soda will quickly become a must!
Two hours before shampooing, dust your dog’s coat and massage it gently to make the powder penetrate between the hairs. Once the time has elapsed, shampoo, dry and brush the animal. Baking soda makes the hair silkier, softer, smoother, repels fleas and does not attack the skin like many chemical components in conventional shampoos. Also note that this product is an excellent anti-parasitic dry shampoo: once a week, apply it on the dog’s or cat’s coat, make it penetrate between the hairs, let sit before brushing.
Clean the cage, bowls, toys
To keep your home healthy, it is more than necessary to keep fairly strict hygiene rules when sharing your roof with a pet. Baking soda can help you in many situations, including washing items in contact with animals. Your guinea pig or bird cage should be cleaned every week to avoid parasites and bad odors : sprinkle the baking soda on a sponge and pass over the tray and over each bar.
Does your dog play a lot, nibble at games, leave them lying around everywhere? In terms of hygiene, can do better … To remedy this, soak the toys in a liter of hot water, where you will have previously poured four tablespoons of baking soda. Finally, if the cleanliness of the bowls is difficult to maintain (often greasy), immerse it in a liter of water in which four tablespoons of baking soda will be diluted. It’s clean !
