The Andromache: when the woman takes over
The name of the position of Kamasutra is inspired by the first name of the wife of the poet of Ancient Greece, Homer. This wife is renowned for taking sexual initiatives, and her positions of domination. In andromache, the woman rides the man: she controls the back and forth movement as well as the rhythm of the sexual act.
Andromache, instructions for use
This way of practicing the sexual act is particularly preferred during pregnancy: the pregnant woman does not have to carry the weight of her belly, and lovemaking is not hampered. The woman is installed astride her partner, seated or on her knees, her back straight. The man for his part remains stretched out. The initiative is often taken by the woman, but the man can get his partner to straddle him.
The woman masters the sexual act
In the position of the andromache, the woman alone imprints the movement and the rhythm. She can thus decide the angle of the penetration, the rate of the back and forth movements, and the end of the lovemaking or the change of position – by withdrawing when she wishes it.
The man, lying on his back, contemplates his lover in a dominated situation. He can participate in the comings and goings and direct the intensity of the penetration by pushing his pelvis upwards, but the woman remains in control of the sexual act.
The partner caresses his lover
In andromache, the man has his hands free and no physical effort to be made. This is the opportunity for him to caress his lover. He can touch her breasts, grab her buttocks or even stimulate her clitoris or her anus, for even more pleasure.
The position of female orgasm
The man appreciates the domination of his partner over him, as well as the lack of effort to provide on his side. The woman for her part can more easily reach the vaginal orgasm in andromache:
- She decides the rhythm and the movements. Under these conditions, she is able to direct the act towards her own pleasure, knowing how to reach her G-spot better than her lover.
- Penetration into the angle of the andromache can be very deep, and the penis tends to stimulate the anterior wall of the vagina. This is where the woman’s G-spot is.
Note: the andromache vaginal orgasm can be accompanied by a clitoral orgasm if the man – or the woman herself – appropriately stimulates the clitoris.
The limits of the andromache position
For some couples, this Kamasutra position is not very common. Andromache has some drawbacks, both for men and women.
The woman is straining the muscles of her thighs
Straddling her partner, it is the woman who goes up and down, bending her knees to stimulate the movement of coitus. She therefore solicits the muscles of her buttocks and thighs in a particularly intense and prolonged manner. The effort to be made can either be too great, or deprive the lover of a part of his pleasure.
Note: the woman can lean with her hands on the man’s torso to relieve his physical strain.
The woman must feel good about herself
Andromache requires a sufficient dose of self-confidence. Exposed to the eyes of the man, she reveals her belly, her chest and her face in close-up. Some people do not feel comfortable enough with their body to do this, especially when they have little experience. An adaptation of the position makes it possible to surreptitiously conceal the parts of the body that the woman wishes to hide: she arches herself and places her hands back, resting on her lover’s thighs.
Note: the penetration is deep in this sexual position, and the woman may feel a slight pain during the act.
A dangerous position for humans?
The man, as a rule, appreciates seeing his wife astride him – unless he shuns any form of domination. But beware, the andromache can also be dangerous: the man risks a penile fracture if his penis is badly oriented. It is therefore important to go smoothly.
