The Amazing Art of Balance by Michael Grub

The creation of such installations is based on a combination of physical and psychological moments.

On the one hand, it must be remembered: balance requires a minimum of three contact points. In this regard, Michael explains: “Fortunately, every stone has depressions, large and tiny, which act as a natural tripod, so that the stone can stand upright or interact with other stones.”

On the other hand, the sculptor needs a deep immersion in himself, the desire to “know” the stone, the ability to listen and hear Nature.

Michael admits that for him it is also a way to spend time without consumption, in excess of which he sees one of the main problems of modern society. “I would like to emphasize the idea that we are creators of our own reality, not passive consumers,” says Michael.

Another aspect of this process is not easy to explain: here it is important to have not only patience, but also inner peace, and also psychologically to be prepared for the fact that at any moment your sculpture may collapse. This teaches to overcome any doubts and seek harmony – both within oneself and harmony with the world of Nature.

Michael says: “When people look at my work, there is an effect of mutual creation. The audience gets the energy of the stone gardens I have created, but at the same time the interest of the people fuels my creativity.”
