April is considered the beginning of the allergy season. Tree and grass pollen in the air can cause runny nose, sneezing, and irritation of the eyes and nose. In spring, allergy sufferers should take special care not only of the skin, but also the cleanliness of the apartment. Regular cleaning will get rid of pollen and other allergens such as dust, mites and mold.
Although tree and grass pollen “attack” allergy sufferers mainly outdoors, it is impossible to avoid them also in the home. Allergens easily fall through windows, settle on furniture and the floor. The allergy sufferer’s home should therefore be cleaned frequently and carefully. Thanks to this, we can reduce unpleasant ailments and increase the comfort of our life.
Prepare to clean up
For allergy sufferers, cleaning means direct contact with allergens. So before we reach for the vacuum cleaner and mop, we should protect our face and hands well. The mask will protect us from excessive inhalation of dust and dust, while gloves will reduce skin contact with detergents. Before starting cleaning, it is also worth hiding all items outside, e.g. clothes, dishes, books, etc. This will make it easier for us to reach all nooks and crannies, and the dust and dirt that rise during cleaning will not settle on the objects we use. every day.
Vacuuming and washing floors
Vacuuming and washing floors is an activity that should be performed at home with an allergy sufferer, especially in the period of increased dustiness. So that allergens do not accumulate in the apartment, it is best to give up carpets and carpets, as well as curtains and curtains. The vacuum cleaner we use should be equipped with a HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter). The HEPA technology enables effective retention of dust, as well as microscopic impurities and microorganisms. After you finish vacuuming, it is worth wiping the floors with water with the addition of a delicate liquid. In this way, we will remove all dirt residues, and the air in the apartment will become clean and fresh.
Window cleaning
Plant pollen and dust accumulate not only on the floors, furniture and RTV equipment, but also on windows. Even if we give up curtains or curtains in favor of roller blinds, we should systematically remove all impurities from the windows, and thus reduce the amount of allergens in the apartment. We can effectively clean the blinds and shutters using special brushes or a small vacuum cleaner attachment. In turn, a welt and a microfiber cloth will help us clean the windows. We should try to clean windows in the morning or on a cool day, when the pollen concentration in the air is slightly lower. Otherwise, instead of helping ourselves and enjoying a clean house, we will run into unpleasant symptoms.
Mold removal
Mold is another allergen that we are exposed to in the home. Allergy to mold is manifested, among others, by runny nose, dry cough, itchy nose and conjunctiva redness. Mold, i.e. small fungi, usually appears in dark, damp rooms, which is why we most often find them in the kitchen and bathroom. To prevent the formation of mold, we should ventilate the apartment frequently, especially after cooking or showering, when water vapor condenses in the room. You should also regularly clean all kinds of sanitary ware and tiles, and in the event of the appearance of mold, use a specialized preparation.
After cleaning is finished
People struggling with allergies should not forget to thoroughly clean their body, face and hair after cleaning. Dust and dust particles as well as detergent particles that remain on the skin can cause itching, burning and redness. After we clean the whole apartment, it’s best to go to the shower and wash all the clothes we clean in high temperature. To wash your face, it is best to use a glove that will thoroughly remove all impurities, and at the same time does not require the use of washing agents that could additionally irritate the skin.
