Thai fern: keeping in the aquarium
The Thai fern is often grown to decorate aquariums. This attractive aquatic plant grows well and quickly takes up all available space. But for this, the culture needs to create optimal conditions.
The aquatic plant is unpretentious in nature and practically does not cause trouble for aquarium owners. But if you do not follow the rules of caring for it, then the growth of the fern will decrease, and its decorative properties will also decrease. The Thai loves calm waters. Therefore, it is not recommended to place it near cleaning devices. Also, the plant does not tolerate the neighborhood with fish, which break the sand in search of food.
It is better to plant a water beauty near the front wall, but you can pick up a place for him in the middle. In order for the fern to look attractive and grow well, it needs to create comfortable conditions. Content rules:
- Water composition. Hardness within 6 dh, acidity – 5,5-7 pH. As a rule, this is the case with old aquarium water. Therefore, you should not change it too often. For renewal, it is enough to replace 20% of the volume every 2 weeks.
- Temperature. Ideal for a plant will be indicators from +18 to + 24 ° C.
- Lighting. For normal development, the Thai needs 12 hours of daylight hours.
The rest of the fern is unpretentious and takes root in any soil, even without the supply of carbon dioxide.
How to fix a Thai fern in an aquarium
In its natural environment, the plant clings to the roots of heavy boulders and driftwood. In an aquarium, he needs to provide similar conditions. Choose any massive object, be it stone or decoration, and attach a fern to it. This can be done in the following ways:
- Tie the crop to the object with fishing line or nylon thread.
- Attach the plant with a rubber band. This is the most reliable method, but it has a significant drawback. The tourniquet is visible, which greatly reduces the aesthetics of the aquarium.
- Glue the fern with waterproof glue. To do this, apply a couple of drops to a small area of the sheet and bond this area with a stone. Of course, part of the plant will die off from contact with the substance, but until that moment the plant will have time to gain a foothold in the support.
The attractive and unpretentious Thai fern will decorate any aquarium. This plant is an unpretentious creature, it will not take much time and effort. The culture does not need constant pruning, which makes it much easier to care for it.
