“I would like to describe yesterday’s absurd situation regarding COVID-19 tests in Krakow” – wrote the reader in an email to our editorial office. “How many people could get infected from me by stupid rules that did not work before, and even more so now?” – he asks rhetorically.

Since I had contact with infected people and started to have symptoms of a cold myself, I contacted the doctor who sent me a referral for a test. A moment later I received an SMS (e-health) with information about the time and place of the examination.

I was getting weaker and weaker, so I went there before the appointed time. Since taxi drivers have been driving without masks recently, and I don’t have my own car, I had to use public transport. I put on a double mask and gloves that I disinfected earlier. People who traveled with me – as it later turned out, some also for the test – did not even have masks (and I would like to point out that I am not a person who loves to comply with restrictions, but for the sake of the public, I do my best not to endanger others).

On site, it turned out that the trailer / tent or whatever it was, was intended only for people collecting the material for testing. The others had to stand in the cold, in the queue of cars! And it was so long it would have taken about three hours to wait your turn.

When, together with two other people, we approached the doctors, they said (well, they shouted at us) that they had an appointment somewhere and we had to line up behind the last car. It was not possible to line up in two lines: people who came on foot and waiting cars. You had to stand at four degrees Celsius, amidst car exhaust fumes and wait.

Almost two years have passed since the outbreak of the pandemic and the National Health Fund still does not understand the epidemiological situation? Why these SMSes? Why they make people’s lives difficult!

On the way home, I passed out. I managed to do the test at the last moment at another point, near my house. I have a positive result.
