Test: 21 questions to find out if you suffer from anxiety

El Beck Anxiety Inventory is a short self-administered questionnaire with great acceptance to measure anxiety in adults and adolescents, which has been used both in clinical evaluation and in basic research on a regular basis.

As the psychologist Beatriz Gil Bóveda says, the Inventory (BAI) was created by Aaron T. Beck in the 80s, and it is a 21-item multiple-choice questionnaire that measures the severity of current anxiety in adults and teenagers. It describes the emotional, physiological and cognitive symptoms of anxiety, being a very adequate test to discriminate anxiety from depression.

In the questionnaire there is a list of common symptoms of anxiety. Read each of the items carefully, and indicate how much it has affected you in the last week including today:

The psychologist reports that the Beck Anxiety Inventory can be used to assess and establish a baseline of anxiety, as an aid to clinical diagnosis, to detect the efficacy of treatment as it progresses, and as a post-treatment outcome measure.

Other advantages of the BAI include its quick and easy administration, repeatability, discrimination between symptoms of anxiety and depression, the ability to highlight the connection between mind and body in those who seek help to reduce their anxiety , and a proven validity in different languages, cultures and age groups.
