Terrace design: how to decorate? Video
Country life attracts with regularity and comfort. A small area surrounded by plants can relieve fatigue, inspired by the bustle of the city, and helps to relax. The best place to relax and have fun with friends is the terrace.
Important features of the terrace
The terrace is the link between the house and the garden. Most often, it is an open space where heating is not provided. The summer terrace is a wonderful place where you can receive guests or relax with a book.
The terrace can be both a continuation of a country house and an addition to a small summer cottage. It is best if its design matches the appearance of the existing building. For example, for wooden buildings, a country-style or Provence-style terrace is suitable, and for modern houses, additions designed in the spirit of minimalism or classics will be an excellent option.
Externally, terraces can vary greatly. For example, glass structures are popular in Europe. They have walls on all sides, however, with the sliding doors-compartment, the impression of a completely open space is created.
The main part of the terrace is the floor. Designers note that its finish deserves special attention. After all, there may be no walls and a canopy at all. Therefore, the floor must be wear-resistant, strong, durable, resistant to various natural phenomena. The best options are wood, outdoor tiles, stone, decking.
However, the flooring must meet the requirements of the chosen style. For example, a wide painted board or colored mosaic tiles would be an ideal option for Provence. This floor will also be relevant for a terrace in Mediterranean decoration. But for modern trends, it is more relevant to choose concrete, unpainted wood or brickwork.
The terrace is a great place for relaxation, happy holidays, sunbathing, creativity. During your vacation, you will spend almost all your free time on it. There should be a place on the terrace for lovers of peace and for noisy entertainment for children / adults.
Pay special attention to the furniture. Forged, glass and wood products are ideal options for an open terrace. Pillows, mattresses, blankets should be “overhead” so that in case of rain you can quickly hide them.
A closed terrace allows you to approach the interior more thoughtfully. Furniture can be rattan / bamboo or completely upholstered. An excellent option for both terraces will be large poufs and frameless products.
Frameless furniture is a great choice for practical people. It is comfortable, safe and easy to move around. You can quickly change the interior, adjusting it to your needs
On the country terrace-veranda, it is most often customary to arrange a dining room. If you have a large family, you like parties and gather a lot of guests under your roof, the table should be the main piece of furniture. Choose it based on the general design concept. For example, for a high-tech style, a laconic glass version is suitable. A massive wooden structure will perfectly fit into country or Provence, the tabletop of which can be trimmed with tiles or stone.
Don’t forget to light up your terrace. Today, LED lights are very popular, as well as solar-powered flashlights. Candles in beautiful lanterns are also an excellent choice. Such lighting will create a romantic, mysterious and fairytale atmosphere.
