Terbistad

Terbistad is used in fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes, skin yeast infections and Tinea versicolor. The active substance of the preparation is terbinafine, which has an antifungal effect. The drug is in the form of a cream for external use and is available over the counter in the pharmacy.

Terbistad is a topical antifungal medicine belonging to the allylamine group.

Terbistad – indications and dosage

Terbistad is used:

  1. in fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes,
  2. in athlete’s foot,
  3. in groin mycosis,
  4. in mycosis of smooth skin,
  5. in skin yeast infections,
  6. in tinea versicolor.

Dosage

  1. Fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes. Adults and adolescents after the age of 12 Tinea of ​​the feet, mycosis of the groin and mycosis of the smooth skin. 1 × / d for 7 days.
  2. Skin yeast infections. Adults and adolescents after the age of 12 1 × / day for 7-14 days.
  3. Pityriasis versicolor. Adults and adolescents after the age of 12 1-2 times / day for 14 days.

Topically, apply a thin layer of Terbistad cream to the affected clean, dry skin and the area around it and rub lightly. In the case of lesions in the area of ​​the detrusions (under the nipples, in the groin, between the fingers or buttocks), after lubrication, the skin can be covered with sterile gauze, especially at night. Improvement is achieved within a few days.

Terbistad and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Terbistad:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. the period of breastfeeding,
  3. there is no clinical experience with the use of terbinafine in pregnant women,
  4. the preparation can be used during pregnancy only if absolutely necessary after prior consultation with a doctor,
  5. do not use in children up to 12 years of age

Terbistad – warnings

  1. If, 2 weeks after starting treatment with Terbistad, you should see your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.
  2. Terbistad is only intended for external use for topical application.
  3. Protect your eyes from contact with the preparation.
  4. In the event of accidental eye contact, rinse with running water.
  5. In the event of an allergic reaction, treatment should be discontinued.
  6. Terbistad contains cetyl alcohol and cetostearyl alcohol and may therefore cause skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
  7. There are no studies on the effect of the preparation on the ability to drive motor vehicles.
  8. The preparation should not be used during breastfeeding.
  9. Pregnant women may use the drug only if the doctor deems it necessary.

Terbistad – interactions

There are no known interactions of Terbistad with other drugs.

Terbistad – side effects

Side effects include mild and transient skin symptoms at the application site, such as:

  1. dryness and irritation of the skin,
  2. burning sensation,
  3. in very rare cases, allergic reactions such as rash, itching, dermatitis bullous and hives may occur.
