Temperature under stress: causes and symptoms
An increase in body temperature does not necessarily mean that you are sick with coronavirus.
Stress is a daily occurrence. Moreover, its symptoms can be varied. It happens that the temperature rises during stress, and a person gets sick. Doctors say that constant nervous tension and stress cause weakening of the immune system. Therefore, even a minor infection can be accompanied by a sharp rise in temperature.
In medicine, there is such a concept – “psychogenic temperature”. This is literally the temperature from the nerves, since it is not accompanied by inflammatory processes. Oddly enough, this phenomenon is common. There are also other side symptoms:
bad state of health;
headache;
fatigue and loss of strength;
dizziness;
discomfort in the region of the heart;
dyspnea.
If you do not pay attention to these phenomena, then after a short time they will develop into chronic fatigue.
Temperature rise with stress: if it happens all the time
This condition is accompanied by serious disorders of the immune, nervous and endocrine systems. To diagnose so-called chronic fatigue syndrome, pay attention to specific symptoms.
Temperature up to 38 degrees of unknown origin.
Muscle weakness.
Irritability.
A sharp decrease in performance, memory and activity.
Sleep disturbance – insomnia or drowsiness.
This state cannot be ignored. The body gives a serious alarm and requires help, since even a long rest does not help to restore strength.
Thermoneurosis: stress can cause fever
Among doctors, you can hear the concept of “thermoneurosis”. Scientists believe that this condition is a type of vegetative-vascular dystonia. Most often, people with a weak nervous system suffer from this disorder. With increased stress, a person’s temperature rises. If you calm down, then the condition usually returns to normal. But in some cases, you have to resort to complex treatment:
herbal medicine – baths with medicinal herbs;
moderate physical activity;
taking homeopathic sedatives;
psychotherapy.
Therefore, if you just have a fever, but there are no other symptoms, think about what could have provoked such a condition. The main thing is to remain calm and strive to ensure that the nervous system is in order.
Expert Opinion
Neurologist JSC “Medicine” (Clinic of Academician Roitberg)
– Thermoneurosis is usually understood as a psychosomatic illness when a person has an increase in temperature for a long period. In this case, the numbers will be subfebrile, that is, the temperature will fluctuate in the interval 37-37,5 degrees.
In 90% of cases, the temperature is associated with an infectious process, 9% are diseases of the thyroid gland, an autoimmune process or volumetric processes of the brain in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain responsible for thermoregulation.
And only 1% will be the temperature of psychogenic genesis. Before diagnosing “thermoneurosis”, the doctor must exclude all of the above diseases and conduct many examinations.
