Telemedicine visits allow you to quickly consult a doctor and receive the necessary information about further recommended procedures. We will solve some problems at the stage of a phone call or online advice. Others require testing or a personal visit to the doctor. When is a telemedicine visit enough for us? Is it always different from talking to a doctor’s office?
Telemedicine visits – who are they intended for?
Telemedicine is a convenient solution for many patients who want to reduce the time spent in the queue to the doctor, obtain a prescription quickly or consult a specialist about their symptoms without unnecessary waiting. However, this form of medical assistance is not always sufficient. Sometimes a television visit is only the first step in the diagnostic process, and in the case of some symptoms or diseases, palpation is necessary. Also, sudden conditions or very strong symptoms may indicate the need for hospitalization instead of seeking telemedicine advice.
What problems can be solved with the help of telemedicine advice?
Telemedicine visits make it easier for the patient to contact the doctor, reducing the waiting time for a meeting with a specialist and making it possible to regulate certain issues without leaving home. Telemedicine turns out to be particularly useful in several cases:
- writing a prescription – if we need a prescription drug, the doctor may issue an e-prescription during a telemedicine visit, with which we can immediately go to the pharmacy;
- issuing an exemption – when medically justified indications appear, during a telephone or virtual consultation, the doctor may issue an electronic certificate;
- consultation of research results – the patient does not have to go to the doctor’s office with the test results, as they can also discuss them with their doctor during the e-visit;
- inquiry health advice – teleportation is a quick and convenient way to consult, inter alia, with a family doctor, internist, pediatrician, dermatologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist or nutritionist;
- chronic disease control – people treating chronic diseases (e.g. diabetes, cardiological problems, thyroid problems) can monitor their health without leaving their home thanks to the TV viewers.
High efficiency in resolving health problems during telemedicine visits is also observed in the case of specific ailments, such as runny nose, colds, sore throats, headaches, urinary tract infections, dermatological problems or allergies. In this form, you can also receive dietary advice.
You can discuss your symptoms and health concerns online with a doctor of your choice. Sign up for the next available date in a few steps and take advantage of a remote medical consultation. If you want to additionally benefit from free e-visits with a family doctor, transfer via halodoctor.pl to a primary health care facility in a telemedicine clinic. In this way, you will gain access to remote services of a family doctor within the National Health Fund.
Telecare for the chronically ill and seniors
Although virtually every patient can benefit from telemedicine visits, seniors are one of the key recipients of this service. The ability to drive is a particular advantage for older people teleoperators, reducing the risk of catching an infection on the way to the doctor or at the clinic, as well as the effort associated with long waiting in line for an appointment.
Effective disease control as part of telemedicine includes: telecardiology, telediabetology and telerehabilitation. Thanks to the appropriate devices, it becomes possible to perform a remote ECG, blood glucose meter measurements or collect data from a heart rate monitor and spirometer, as well as discuss them with a specialist during a TV visit.
Telecare provides an opportunity to reduce hospitalization of people with chronic diseases, as well as to reduce the number of necessary journeys of patients to medical facilities. All thanks to the possibility of regular monitoring of health, in some cases also XNUMX hours a day.

Telemedicine visits – just like in the office
Some telemedicine visits are similar to the traditional ones, i.e. in a doctor’s office. This applies to consultations with doctors of various specializations, including family doctors, paediatricians, internists, dermatologists, cardiologists and endocrinologists. The doctor conducts an interview with the patient and, on the basis of the collected information, gives the patient recommendations, prescribes medications or directs them for tests, but does not carry out a physical examination. Or, it may find that it is necessary in a given case assessment of the patient during an office visit or seeking advice from another specialist.
The main difference between a telemedicine visit and a traditional medical visit is a physical examination. During a remote visit, it is not possible to perform such a test, but in many cases it is also not necessary. If the doctor decides that a physical examination should be performed, he will inform the patient about the need to plan a stationary visit to the office.
In the case of chronically ill people who have regular medical check-ups or prescriptions for regularly taken medications, an online visit or a telephone call is also similar to a regular consultation.
