A smile can be one of the greatest attributes of beauty, but if it is not properly protected or neglected, it can become a complex complex. Neglected teeth attract the attention of other people and significantly affect your well-being. To feel attractive again, it is worthwhile to whiten your teeth.

Teeth whitening – where to start?

Procedure this one is relatively simple, however, to be safe and effective, you need to prepare for it properly. You should seek advice first specialist, who will assess the actual condition of the teeth, will take a panoramic photo of the inside of the oral cavity to determine whether there are cavities in less visible places – such as the contact walls between the teeth. Failure to treat lesions and leaving caries-contaminated areas after using whitening agents may result in pulpitis.

There are at least a few ways. One of them is teeth whitening home methods, using products such as soda, salt or lemon juice, but they are not recommended by dentists because they can permanently damage the enamel.

In turn, cosmetic drugstores offer consumers whitening toothpastes, but waiting for results, if any, may be long. You cannot count on discoloration and plaque deposits to be easily treated with the toothpaste and brush. Only after you have cleaned your teeth in a dentist’s office, you can expect some kind of results. You can also use commercially available transparent gel strips, bleach sticks that are used to «paint» the teeth like a felt-tip pen, or two-phase gels with overlays. All these products are able to improve the color of the teeth, provided that the recommendations contained in the leaflet are followed. However, it is worth knowing that teeth whitening at home lasts for several weeks and should be repeated approximately every 3 months to effects remain visible for a long time.

Therefore, the most effective way will be in-office whiteningwhich is done with laser light sources or LED light and with the use of so-called whitening acceleratorsa (accelerators). It is related to enamel dehydration – dehydration. For people who do not want to whiten their teeth with a lamp, whitening aligners can be used, but other than those available in drugstores, because their preparation requires an impression of the jaw – thanks to this, you can be sure that the aligners fit your teeth and the effect will be full and aesthetic. The overlays should be taken home with you to use them for about 7 days (preferably at night). After this time, a visit to the dentist’s office is recommended so that the specialist can evaluate the results.

Drugstore whitening preparations are the most economical. They cost from several to several dozen zlotys, while in-office whitening it ranges between PLN 500 and PLN 2500. The cost of making veneers is about PLN 2000 per tooth.

Teeth whitening and what next?

After serving whitening treatments performed by a dentist, patients are subject to the so-called white diet. This means that during the procedure, i.e. for a period of 7 to 10 days, you should not eat products that could discolor your teeth. These include mainly coffee, tea, red wine, citrus juices, blackberry and currant juices, spinach, beetroot, red cabbage, dark sauces, egg yolks and vegetables containing carotene.
