Tatar honeysuckle: description, planting care
Description of Tatar honeysuckle
Planting and caring for Tatar honeysuckle
This plant can be propagated by cuttings, seeds or shoots. The first method is the most popular. Young and lignified shoots can be used for cuttings.
Find an area with loose, drained soil. Stagnant water is undesirable. The optimum acidity of the soil is 7,5-8,5.
Planting cuttings:
- Prepare the site. Add sand, peat and turf in a 1: 1: 3 ratio. At the bottom of the planting pit, pour a layer of drainage up to 5 cm thick.
- Place the cuttings in the soil at an angle of 45 ° C. Drizzle and cover with plastic wrap.
- After rooting, the shelter can be removed.
Cover the honeysuckle with spruce branches to protect it from frost. In the spring, when it warms, you can transplant the plant to a new place.
The appearance of the bush and its flowering depend on the place of planting and care. If you want to get an ornamental plant, then do not neglect feeding, pruning, pest control and soil mulching. In the spring, feed the bushes with nitrogen-containing fertilizers, before flowering – with complex mineral fertilizers, and in the fall – with wood ash.
Water the honeysuckle 2-3 times per season in hot weather. Pour a bucket of water under the bush. In spring and autumn, loosen the soil around, mulch the near-trunk circle with peat. Perform anti-aging pruning every 2-3 years. Cut out old branches. This promotes the growth of young shoots. Also remove dry and diseased branches.
Tatar honeysuckle does not require much attention, but after it reaches the age of 6 years, be sure to form a crown. Pruning is one of the most important procedures for a beautiful shrub.
