Tarivid 200 – indications, contraindications, dosage

Systemic antibacterial drug. A chemotherapeutic agent used in the treatment of bacterial infections, especially infections with Gram-negative bacteria.

Tarivid 200 – indications

Treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin, such as: acute, chronic and recurrent respiratory tract infections, including bronchitis, pneumonia (with the exception of community acquired pneumonia caused by colitis), throat, nose and ear infections (the preparation does not is indicated in the treatment of tonsillitis caused by beta-haemolytic streptococci), skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, including pelvic infections (except bacterial enteritis), kidney, urinary tract and genital infections (except caused by a pale spirochete), gonorrhea.

Tarivid 200 – contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation or other quinolines, epilepsy or an increased risk of seizures (lowered seizure threshold) as a result of damage to the central nervous system, e.g. after a craniocerebral trauma, stroke, inflammation in the central nervous system, tendinitis after use other chinologists in the interview.

Tarivid 200 – dosage

In most indications: 200 mg twice daily. In uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract 2 mg twice a day. In the treatment of gonorrhea 100 mg once.

In severe infections, e.g. respiratory tract infections, infections with complications or when the patient’s response to treatment is insufficient, your doctor may increase the dose to 400 mg twice a day.

In patients with impaired renal function, it is necessary to adjust the dosage by the doctor, depending on the degree of renal failure (based on creatinine clearance). If the creatinine clearance is in the range of 20-50 ml / min, the maintenance dose is 100-200 mg daily, if it is less than 20 ml / min, and in patients undergoing dialysis, the maintenance dose is 100 mg daily.

In patients with hepatic insufficiency, the maximum dose is 400 mg daily.

The tablets should be swallowed whole, without chewing, with 0,5–1 glass of liquid. Can be taken on an empty stomach or with meals. The preparation is usually taken in divided doses (it is important to maintain equal intervals between doses, usually divided doses are taken every 12 hours).
