Until recently, getting rid of varicose veins meant a major operation. Today, minimally invasive treatments without the use of a scalpel allow you to say goodbye to this problem. Remember, however, that varicose veins must not be taken lightly. Because it is not only a cosmetic defect, but a symptom of a disease that needs to be diagnosed and treated.

The problem of varicose veins on the legs affects even one in four adults. Most of them inherited this tendency from their ancestors. However, their formation may also be fostered by:

  1. sitting or standing nature of work,
  2. several pregnancies,
  3. rapid weight gain leading to obesity,
  4. hormonoterapia,
  5. frequent use of solariums and saunas.

Varicose veins are a typical symptom of venous insufficiency, which in extreme cases may lead to the development of difficult-to-heal wounds, i.e. ulcers.

Disregarded symptoms

Initially, it is just a feeling of heaviness in the legs, mainly in the evening. Later, pain in the ankles, swelling, pains inside the calf when standing or sitting, as well as persistent night cramps of the calves begin to bother. So if you wake up at night due to such cramps, instead of wasting money on magnesium preparations, check if you do not suffer from chronic venous leg insufficiency, which is much more often the cause of this type of ailments. A little later, vascular spider veins appear and, finally, varicose veins.

You can prevent the appearance of varicose veins and spider veins by massaging your legs regularly and applying the right creams or ointments. Try, for example, butcher’s broom ointment that strengthens blood vessels.

It should be remembered that the very first signals should prompt you to visit a doctor and start effective treatment. It is best to use the help of a phlebologist, i.e. a specialist in the treatment of varicose veins. Chronic venous disease is a consequence of the regurgitation of blood flowing in the veins as a result of damage to the valves, whose task is to pass it only in one direction. The valves open as blood moves towards the heart and close in reverse. If they are inefficient, they allow flow in both directions. Retracting blood collects in the veins of the legs furthest from the heart, stretching their walls. As a consequence, varicose veins develop.

Venosil is a natural cream, the plant composition of which supports the body in the fight against varicose veins and swelling and brings relief to tired legs.

Correct diagnosis

– In order to successfully treat varicose veins, the patient must be well diagnosed. Our experience shows that about 30 percent. varicose veins is atypical, i.e. it comes from unstable venous trunks, and thus requires more complicated diagnostics – says Dr. n. med. Tomasz Grzela from the Department of Phlebology in Warsaw.

The diagnosis of varicose veins always begins with the USG Doppler examination of the veins, thanks to which it is possible to precisely locate the place of damage to the valves. – Proper performance of this examination in the field of the veins of the lower extremities, often also in the pelvic and abdominal cavity and intimate areas in women and men is the key to making a proper diagnosis – says the drug. med. Cezary Zielony, radiologist and phlebologist.

Doctors specializing in the treatment of veins also perform an examination that allows you to see the vessels from the inside. Through a small percutaneous puncture under local anesthesia, a small probe is inserted, emitting mechanical waves, thanks to which the image of the vessel is visible on the monitor. This type of intravascular ultrasound allows for extremely accurate assessment of potential obstacles, such as post-thrombotic stenosis or septum, often elusive when examined with other methods. In some cases, more detailed diagnostics using computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging is needed. These methods are used to perform the so-called venography, i.e. advanced imaging of the venous system of each part of the body.

Modern laser treatment

Until recently, treatment of varicose veins meant surgery to remove the inadequate vein. Modern methods consist in preventing the blood supply to the vessel, thanks to which it is, as it were, excluded from the bloodstream. – Good diagnosis of venous insufficiency allows us to heal varicose veins quickly, without cuts and scars, usually under local anesthesia. Instead of brutal surgeries to pull inefficient veins, we much more often use minimally invasive methods characterized by high efficiency, precision and negligible risk of complications – emphasizes Dr. Tomasz Grzela. The use of modern lasers gives spectacular results. – The most technologically perfect intravenous system ELVeS 1470 nm on the market achieves the effectiveness of the treatment of varicose veins at the level of 95-96%. – emphasize specialists from the Warsaw Phlebology Clinic. The procedure involves introducing a special optical fiber into the changed vein. By heating the vessel walls with the energy of laser radiation, it is closed. The course of the procedure is monitored with the use of ultrasound equipment. – Such a procedure allows us to precisely exclude from the circulation only the ineffective part of the vessel, while maintaining the functions of other, properly functioning veins – explains Dr. Agnieszka Krawczyk from the Department of Phlebology in Warsaw. The patient practically returns to normal activity after the procedure.

Do you want to take care of your veins? Prophylactically use Cleavers 400 mg (Przytulia Czepna) Viridian, a dietary supplement that you can buy at an attractive price on Medonet Market. Compression bands also support the legs. Try, for example, the OS1st CS6 calf compression bandage, which reduces the risk of cramps and supports proper blood flow. The band is available on Medonet Market in the following colors: white, black, blue, gray, pink and yellow. It is also worth using creams and ointments that strengthen blood vessels and improve blood circulation. We recommend, for example, a soothing chestnut ointment with a routine against varicose veins.

Gluing the veins

Phlebologists specialists emphasize that the choice of treatment method should be individually selected for each patient. In addition to laser treatment, the method of gluing varicose veins with modern VenaSeal and VariClose systems is also used. – Access to the venous vessel is obtained with the use of extremely delicate skin puncture sets, thanks to which we avoid cutting it. Therefore, the skin after the treatment remains without unsightly scars. The glue introduced into the vessels closes them, thanks to which the blood stops accumulating there, the varicose veins become overgrown and disappear – explains Dr. Justyna Wilczko from the Phlebology Clinic in Warsaw. The procedure of gluing varicose veins on one leg is carried out on average within 20-25 minutes, on both legs simultaneously usually in 40-45 minutes. The patient leaves the clinic and immediately returns to his daily duties.

In the care of varicose veins and skin in the area of varicose veins, the monastery liner on the skin in the area of varicose veins will help Varix Klimuszko, which, in addition to moisturizing, also makes blood vessels elastic.

Hybrid treatments

In some cases, when treating varicose veins, you need to use several methods at once. – Then, after a thoroughly performed Doppler ultrasound examination, we immediately plan a combined treatment, e.g. laser therapy with simultaneous sclerotherapy. The latter method involves injecting a chemical agent into the abnormal vein, which leads to its fibrosis and closure, explain specialists from the Department of Phlebology in Warsaw. The hybrid approach involves the use of two or more methods simultaneously during the same treatment. – This allows us to heal the patient effectively, quickly and extremely minimally during one visit – adds Dr. Krawczyk. Sometimes, however, it is better to wait two or three months between treatments. – If, for example, the cause of varicose veins on the legs was – resulting from pregnancy – venous insufficiency of the pelvis, then we first treat this disease, then the resulting varicose veins in the intimate areas and only then atypical varicose veins on the legs – explains Cezary Gray. Such therapy lasts a total of three or four months and gives very good aesthetic results.

In case of problems with varicose veins, it is worth using a compression band for calf and ankle joint OS1st FS4 + n in black or blue. The product supports blood flow and reduces pain and swelling.
