Tafen Nasal – nasal spray. Indications for use, dosage, side effects

Tafen Nasal is a nasal spray containing a corticosteroid. The drug is indicated for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps in adults and children after 6 years of age. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using the preparation. It is a nasal spray and can only be obtained with a prescription.

Tafen Nasal – indications for use

Tafen Nasal is a nasal spray recommended for the treatment of:

  1. seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis,
  2. nasau polyps in adults and children after 6 years of age,
  3. non-allergic rhinitis in adults.

Tafen Nasal and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Tafen Nasal are:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. use of the preparation in children up to 6 years of age.

Dosage Tafen Nasal

To obtain an effective therapeutic effect, the preparation should be used regularly, in accordance with the dosing schedule. The effectiveness of the preparation usually occurs after a few days of regular use (sometimes even up to 2 weeks). The duration of the treatment will be determined by the doctor (it should not exceed 3 months). Shake the container before each use. Before the first use, hold the canister vertically and point the tip of the dispenser into the air and press the pump several times until a uniform mist is visible. These activities should also be repeated every time the preparation has not been used for several consecutive days. Clean the dispenser and replace the cap after each use.

  1. Adults and children after 6 years of age: initially, the usual dose is 2 doses in each nostril twice a day (total daily dose 2 µg). Once your symptoms are under control, for maintenance treatment your doctor will reduce the dose to 400 dose in each nostril twice a day or to 1 doses in each nostril once a day in the morning (total daily dose 2 µg). Your doctor will advise you to use the lowest dose that controls your symptoms.

Tafen Nasal – side effects

The use of Tafen Nasal may cause the following side effects:

  1. sneezing,
  2. dryness of the nasal mucosa or stinging of the nose
  3. nasal discharge stained with blood
  4. epistaxis,
  5. cough,
  6. ulceration of the lining of the nose (painful sores in the nose)
  7. dry mouth
  8. dry throat
  9. hives (itchy rash)
  10. rash,
  11. itching
  12. dermatitis with a rash,
  13. angioedema (swelling of the skin, sometimes mucous membranes, without itching, mainly in the
  14. face).
