Taclar

Taclar is an antibacterial medicine for systemic use. Macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. Recommended in the treatment of bronchitis, sinusitis, middle ear and atypical pneumonia. The active substance is clarithromycin. The preparation in the form of tablets is available on prescription.

Taclar indications for use

Treatment of the following infections caused by clarithromycin-sensitive microorganisms: upper respiratory tract infections (e.g. tonsillitis and pharyngitis, sinusitis), otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections (e.g. acute and chronic bronchitis, bacterial or atypical pneumonia), uncomplicated skin infections, atypical mycobacterial infections (via the MAC complex) in AIDS patients.

Treatment of infections Helicobacter pylori in people with duodenal ulcer (in combination with other drugs).

Taclar and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Taclar are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation or other macrolide antibiotics,
  2. severe liver failure.
  3. During treatment with clarithromycin, the use of any of the following drugs is contraindicated: astemizole, cisapride, pimozide, terfenadine, ergotamine or dihydroergotamine.

Dosing Taclar

  1. Adults: the recommended usual dose is 250 mg twice a day (every 2 hours); in severe infections, your doctor may increase the dose to 12 mg twice a day (every 500 hours).
  2. Infections Helicobacter pylori (treatment in combination with other drugs): 500 mg twice a day (every 2 hours) in combination with other drugs, depending on the recommended treatment schedule, usually for 12 days.
  3. Children: the usual dose is 7,5 mg / kg body weight twice a day (every 2 hours). Treatment usually takes 12-5 days.

In patients:

  1. with renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml / min), it is necessary to adjust the dosage by the doctor (usually the doctor will recommend reducing the dose by half or extending the time interval between doses). In this group of patients, the drug should not be used for more than 14 days.
  2. with hepatic insufficiency, it is necessary to exercise extreme caution and regular monitoring of liver function parameters. Your doctor will adjust the dosage of Taclar accordingly, if necessary. In general, no dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with moderate hepatic impairment and normal renal function.
  3. in the elderly, no dosage adjustment is necessary.

Taclar film-coated tablets are for oral use. The tablets should be swallowed whole (do not chew or divide) with a sufficient amount of liquid. Can be taken regardless of meals.

Attention! Taclar

  1. Taclar should be used with caution in patients with hepatic or renal insufficiency.
  2. If diarrhea develops during or after treatment, do not treat it on your own, but consult your doctor.
  3. The use of Taclarm may cause hypersensitivity reactions. If the first symptoms of a hypersensitivity reaction occur, consult a doctor immediately.
  4. There is no information on the effects of Taclar on the ability to drive and use machines / machines. The preparation may cause side effects such as dizziness, confusion, disorientation, which may impair the ability to drive vehicles and operate equipment / machines.
  5. Pregnant women may use the drug when the doctor deems it necessary.
  6. The clarithromycin contained in the drug passes into breast milk.
