Tabernemontana plant, home care

Tabernemontana is a tropical flower that can be grown at home. In this case, the main task of the grower is to create favorable conditions and properly care for the plant.

What does the tabernemontana plant look like?

Tabernemontana can be in the form of a small bush or tree with a maximum height of 1,5 m. Green leaves grow on the stems, pointed at the end, no more than 12 cm long.

Tabernemontana loves humidity and is afraid of drafts

There are several varieties of this flower, each with its own characteristics. It is easy to grow the following types at home:

  • “Divarikata”, which is a small, branched bush. Large, dark green, shiny leaves grow on horizontal branches. During flowering, snow-white, double flowers bloom. Their scent is reminiscent of jasmine;
  • “Elegant” looks like a branching tree. This variety blooms with inflorescences of white and cream color, with a less pronounced aroma;
  • “Crowned” is a low shrub. It gives its owner inflorescences with several, semi-double flowers, with wavy petals.

Despite the fact that flowers differ from each other, one thing generalizes them: they attract attention and will not leave anyone indifferent.

Choose the right variety and fill your home with a pleasant scent.

Caring for tabernemontana at home

To make the tropical guest feel comfortable in the home, create favorable conditions. You need to grow the plant in nutritious and loose soil, and there should be drainage at the bottom of the pot. The flower pot should be placed in a well-lit place. A comfortable temperature in the warm season is about + 22⁰С, and in winter it is not lower than + 12⁰С.

You need to take care of the flower like this:

  • Water it under the root with warm, settled water after the top layer of the earth has dried. Do this at least 2 times a week in summer and once every 7 days in winter.
  • Spray the flower several times a week to create the necessary humidity.
  • In warmer months, take it out to the balcony or garden, as the plant needs fresh air.
  • Fertilize the soil periodically. In spring and summer, 2 times a month, use liquid, mineral fertilizers with phosphorus and potassium. You can buy special mixtures for flowering plants.
  • Trim off damaged parts, broken stems, and wilted buds as needed. This will have a beneficial effect on the health of the plant and will allow you to create the desired shape.
  • Transplant the young plant into a new pot several times a year, as the root system develops quickly and fills the free space. An adult flower requires a transplant every 3 years.

These are all the basic steps that will be required from the grower. In response to being cared for, the plant can bloom all year round.

Grow tabernemontana at home – it will give abundant flowering of amazing beauty.
