PSYchology

The Swiss psychiatrist Thomas Hänel used the capacious image of Carl Gustav Jung in the title of his book on depression.

T. Hanel

In his opinion, «depression is the most severe disease that a person can suffer at all.» In this state, people are always sad, pessimistic, they see the world through dark glasses. In addition, they suffer from a sense of their own worthlessness, inner emptiness. These experiences are unbearable! That is why the “lady in black” cannot be ignored, says Thomas Hanel, on the contrary, “it is necessary to listen to her and try to understand why she came.” His book is dedicated to this understanding: it talks about the causes of depression, its various manifestations, about diagnosis and about a variety of treatments.
