Causes of the problem

• Excessive production of intraocular fluid or insufficient drainage. This phenomenon can be associated with diseases such as uveitis (inflammation of the choroid of the eye). This condition in 25% of cases leads to decreased vision and even blindness. Increased eye pressure is possible with cataracts, abnormalities in the structure of the eye.

• Taking certain medications, including steroids.

• Eye injury.

• Age-related changes in the structure of the eye (occur in people over 40).

• Family history – pathology may be hereditary.

• Chronic fatigue (physical and mental).

• Problems with the cardiovascular system.

• Kidney disease, in which fluid builds up in the body.

• Eye swelling, inflammatory diseases of the iris.

• Endocrine pathologies.

Disturbing symptoms

A number of signs indicate that glaucoma is developing. When they appear, you cannot postpone a visit to an ophthalmologist, try to stabilize the situation with drops, eye gymnastics or folk remedies. Make an appointment with your doctor if you suffer from frequent migraines accompanied by pain in the eyes. Vision decreases, and at dusk it is absent altogether, “flies” and iridescent circles appear before the eyes. A terrible symptom is a significant narrowing of the visual fields: it is impossible to see something from the side, for this you have to turn your head and strain your eyes.
