Symptoms of anemia
Most people with anemia slight do not notice it. The intensity of symptoms varies depending on its severity, type of anemia and how quickly it appears. When anemia gradually appears, the symptoms are less obvious. Here are the main symptoms.
- Fatigue
- Pale skin
- Increased heart rate and more pronounced shortness of breath on exertion
- Cold hands and feet
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Greater vulnerability to infections (in case of aplastic anemia, sickle cell anemia or hemolytic anemia)
- Other symptoms may appear in some severe forms of anemia, such as pain in the limbs, abdomen, back or chest, visual disturbances, jaundice, and swelling in the limbs.
Notes. Anemia increases the risk of death from illness, heart attack or stroke in older people.
