Symptoms of ADHD

In children
Inattention

- Difficulty paying sustained attention to a particular task or activity. However, children may be able to control their attention better if they have a strong interest in an activity.

Other symptoms
- The child can be very noisy, antisocial, even aggressive, which can lead to being rejected by others.
Warning. Not all children with “difficult” behavior have ADHD. Many situations can generate similar symptoms to those of ADHD. This is the case, for example, of a conflicting family situation, a separation, an incompatibility of character with a teacher or conflicts with friends. Sometimes an undiagnosed deafness can explain a problem with inattention. Finally, other health problems can cause these symptoms or amplify them. Discuss it with a doctor.

- Less physical hyperactivity than during childhood.

- Difficulty getting organized on a daily basis and in the long term.
- Difficulty completing tasks.
- Mood swings.
- Anger and impulsive character (easily lost, makes impulsive decisions).
- Low self-esteem.
- Difficulty coping with stress.
- Difficulty tolerating frustration.
- Little stability, both in married life and at work.
