The enlargement of the lymph node under the arm is accompanied by painful sensations on palpation, in a normal state this should not be. In the future, at the location of the lymph node, the skin may turn red, as a rule, this is accompanied by an increase in temperature. Such a condition can be quite long and go away on its own after some time, which means that the root cause has been eliminated and the body has coped with the infection or inflammation on its own.

Many people think that there is no cause for concern, and it will all go away on its own. But an increase in lymph nodes can be caused not only by mild colds, but also be symptoms of dangerous diseases. These symptoms are a serious reason for an immediate visit to a doctor, since in these cases inflammation may begin, pain syndrome and fever may increase, nausea and vomiting may appear, accompanied by general weakness. It is very important to find out the cause as soon as possible and start treatment.
Causes of enlarged lymph nodes in the armpits
Sometimes the cause of the enlargement of the lymph nodes under the arm is an allergic reaction, which is fraught with many unpleasant consequences, including anaphylactic shock. In this case, in addition to this symptom, you may experience a runny nose, vomiting, hives, and swelling of the face.
The cause of enlarged lymph nodes can be furunculosis, which, in turn, is a signal of hormonal disorders. Sometimes the lymph nodes change in size due to inflamed hair follicles under the armpits or due to an extended breast infection. These diseases, of course, are unpleasant and require treatment, but the most dangerous are oncological – cancer of the breast or lymph nodes, for which this symptom is typical.

That is why it follows, having noticed an increase in lymph nodes under the armpits, immediately go to mammography, ultrasound examination and take tests for tumor markers to find out if there are any seals in the area of the mammary glands. You should also visit an oncologist, especially if you have general weakness and loss of appetite, pallor of the skin and shortness of breath – these are the most characteristic signs of lymph node cancer.
