In the summer, many people have such a problem as edema. In the evening, the legs are like cotton, what is called “buzzing”. And although the usual mode of life has not changed. What is the cause of edema and is it possible, by adjusting your lifestyle, to cope with this problem without a visit to the doctor?
The reason for the summer edema is that because of the heat we drink more and our kidneys are, shall we say, a little shocked that we give them so much work. They try, but they rebel. And to show us that we also help them, they send signals in the form of edema.
And the second reason is the opposite, when we drink little liquid. When the body, lacking moisture, by any means tries to retain this life-giving liquid.
In any case, edema is a signal that the kidneys need help. Wait a little while running to the nephrologist. It is better to first adjust your diet and drinking regime so as to work with your kidneys as a well-coordinated team.
Tip 1. Correct liquid… In summer, it is better to replace coffee and sweet carbonated drinks with ordinary drinking water or healthy fruit drinks, herbal teas (especially linden tea), compotes with a minimum of sweetness.
Tip 2. Proper food. Try to limit spicy and fried foods. Salty, spicy, smoked, sweet only increases thirst and at the same time retains fluid in the body. Better to eat more greens, vegetables and fruits. Sweet cherries, cherries, sorrel fight edema well.
Council 3. Procedures before bedtime. You should not drink a lot before bed – a maximum of an hour before bed. And if you suffer from swelling of the legs, then put them on a small roller or elevation, so the feeling of burden will pass faster. They will strengthen blood vessels and relieve fatigue and foot baths with sea salt, only the water should not be hot, it is better – cool.
These simple tips should help with swelling that is caused by improper drinking or eating habits. But if the swelling persists even with lifestyle adjustments, consult a nephrologist.
