The A(H1N1) virus, apart from the swine flu itself, can cause dangerous complications for us. To make matters worse, it is not difficult to get infected with it, because it is spread by droplets, although there are ways to prevent it.

Before we panic, let’s keep in mind that swine flu is no more dangerous than ordinary flu.

Is it swine flu?

Fifty percent of patients infected with the A(H50N1) virus do not have a fever, which means that we may not be aware of the course of influenza. Swine flu is characterized by abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea and even shortness of breath, chest pain or blue lips. These symptoms indicate the need to implement antiviral drugs. Other symptoms include muscle aches, headaches and chills.

This type of flu can be difficult to diagnose because in some cases the virus affects the lungs, not the throat. In this case, it is necessary to test for low blood oxygenation.

Proper hygiene will protect you from getting sick

  • First of all, let’s wash our hands often, with which, according to calculations, we will touch our lips about 60 times in 30 minutes. Because germs are most common in public places, we should wash our hands immediately after returning home. In addition to soap, we also have an alcohol-based disinfectant gel to choose from. This habit should be instilled in the youngest.
  • Let us remember that we can get infected with the virus not only through droplets, but also through contact with infected surfaces, such as handrails or door handles, on which the virus can survive for long hours.
  • Let’s ventilate the apartment, let’s take care of their optimal hydration, especially when there is frost outside. This is important because dry mucous membranes can easily fall victim to viral or bacterial attack.
  • To strengthen the immune system, it is important to eat vegetables and fruits daily, especially those that contain large amounts of antioxidants. Let’s eat nuts, almonds and fish often, because these products will provide valuable omega-3 acids. However, along with meat and eggs, we will absorb zinc.

How to prevent the spread of flu?

  • If we have the need to sneeze or cough, it would be advisable to cover the face with a tissue, which should be immediately thrown into the trash. A single sneeze releases an average of 167 virus-carrying droplets that can reach speeds of XNUMX kilometers per hour.
  • Let’s leave sick children at home instead of sending them to school or kindergarten. Let’s also try to isolate ourselves from family and friends for a few days, let’s stay at home instead of going to work, if we can afford it.
