Children get used to the sweet taste in the womb, according to scientists from the European center for the study of taste in Dijon, France. They found that children prefer the flavors of those foods that their mother ate in the last stages of pregnancy.
The study involved 24 baby. Mothers of 12 children eating biscuits laced with aniseed in the ten days before birth. The experiments were carried out in a few hours and four days after the birth of children. The results showed that kids of whose mothers who ate anise cookies, like the smell of anise.
Children from the second group frowned and turned away from the offered fleece anisic essence. According to scientists, that smell children are met through the amniotic fluid that during fetal development, filled their nasal cavity. Aromatic compounds were in olfactory receptors kids and information about the smell deposited in the brain.
The results of other experiments showed that children found attractive smell of camomile lotion, which was used by their mothers during breastfeeding. Another interesting fact: people born in Europe until 1992, prefer the vanilla flavor.
Until that time, vanilla was added to the European infant formula. According to scientists, babies are able to form food preferences in the womb. That is why pregnant women should take responsibility for your own diet. The researchers recommend eating more vegetables and fruits to help children to build healthy habits.
