Sweet cherry bovine heart: grade

Sweet cherry bovine heart: grade

Sweet cherry “Heart”, or as it is also called, “Bull’s Heart”, got its name from the shape of ripe berries, somewhat reminiscent of a heart. Bred by domestic breeders and is considered the variety with the largest fruits in Russia.

The variety has not won trust among large entrepreneurs, since juicy berries are unsuitable for transportation and long-term storage, but require immediate processing. I like amateur gardeners, since the variety is quite fruitful and one tree is enough for a family.

Cherry fruits “Bull’s Heart” are dark, almost black

Sweet cherry “Bull’s heart” has a number of characteristic features:

  • A tree of medium height, medium foliage, with a pyramidal crown.
  • The fruits are large, dark red, burgundy, with a dense, smooth skin, very sweet, the taste is high.
  • The yield is good – 25-40 kg of cherries can be removed from one tree, depending on the year and age of the tree.
  • The tree is early, the fruits ripen in the second half of June, blooms in May.
  • The plant is winter-hardy, withstands up to -25 degrees of frost.
  • Disease resistance is high, coccomycosis is practically not affected.

Berries are used universally, but canned compote is especially good, which obtains a rich color.

Rules for caring for the sweet cherry variety “Bull’s Heart”

This variety, like many other modern cherry varieties, has a number of requirements that must be met for good plant growth:

  • You need to find the right place to land. Sweet cherry does not like shading. It will not grow behind buildings or in areas where vegetation is dense and above it.
  • You should pay attention to the soil before planting a seedling. Clay or too sandy soils are not suitable for cherries. But if there is such soil on the site, then the clay must be diluted with sand, and the sand with clay.
  • In autumn, seedlings must be sheltered from frost with burlap for the winter, and adult plants also take refuge in severe frosts.
  • The trunk for the winter must be wrapped with thick paper or special material to protect it from rodents. The delicate bark of the fruit tree attracts mice and hares. In the spring, the trunk should be unrolled and whitewashed.

All these simple measures will prolong the life of the tree, increase its yield and protect it from pests.

“Bull’s Heart” is distinguished by high palatability of the fruit, winter hardiness and disease resistance. And under the right conditions, the plant gives good yields.
