Svetlana Surganova: “I got rid of many complexes”

The leader of the group “Surganova and the Orchestra” prefers to talk about complex, philosophical things easily. Proof of this is the new album #MiruMir, a live response to what is happening around. On the eve of the premiere, we asked Svetlana Surganova a few questions.

1. Describe yourself in four words.

Upstart, not devoid of self-irony.

2. What irritates you often?

Greed and anger, perhaps, everything.

3. What is your craziest spending?

I’ll tell you about a waste that once upset my mother. Remember, plastic skis appeared in our country? They were so beautiful – light, white. And I, completely fascinated by them, began to ask: “Buy, mom, buy!” And she insisted, in fact, hysterically lured them out of her. And skis at that time cost almost 90 rubles, it was crazy money, given that the salary of an average engineer was 120 rubles. In general, I once rode them. Somehow they didn’t impress me at all and were put in a corner, abandoned and eventually donated to someone. I still can’t forgive myself for this waste, because I financially “de-energized” my mother.

4. What would you change about yourself?

I would change my bust size. I would increase it by a couple of sizes and slightly reduce the volume of the hips, otherwise everything is in order.

5. Are you a rebel or a conformist?

I am for a peaceful compromise. For a smart decision. After all, it’s like a game. Find a way out in a hopeless situation. Of course, the easiest way is to take and destroy everything. And you try to get out of the situation without loss so that everyone is happy. This is art, this is diplomacy.

6. Who is your example?

Many – from what point of view to look. Since my youth, my sympathies belong to Alisa Freindlikh, Margarita Terekhova, Vasily Livanov. Of the writers inspired by Chuck Palahniuk and Vladimir Nabokov. From the world of music – Sting, Muse. This is the first thing that comes to mind. In fact, there are more than a dozen people who admire me.

7. Who do you usually consult with?

With him!

8. A movie or play that helped get you through hard times.

Office Romance by Eldar Ryazanov always brings inspiration. Comedy “Four Rooms” by Allison Anders with Tim Roth. Wittgenstein directed by Derek Jarman.

9. When did you become the person you are now?

Literally one of these days.

10. What are you most proud of?

The fact that I still managed to get rid of a certain number of clamps, complexes. Previously, I could not connect two words – and I’m not talking about some official statements and speeches, the difficulty for me was simple dialogues, even with friends and loved ones. My shyness was a serious obstacle to communication. And now you see what it resulted in. A lot of work has been done on myself.

11. What is the biggest difference between a man and a woman?

The difference, I think, is only in the chromosomes. Although no, not only. The difference is in fantasy and in positioning. For some reason, men thought they were strong, and for some reason women allow themselves to be weak. O! Almost an aphorism!

12. What is your favorite way to procrastinate?

I love rearranging furniture. This is my favorite type of procrastination. As soon as I have to sit down to write a song, I immediately start moving the furniture. So every time my friends come to my house, they don’t recognize it.

13. If you weren’t yourself, what would you like to be?

Leonardo da Vinci. A man with the broadest erudition, who knew everything, knew how to do everything and constantly strived for new knowledge. I am drawn to this eternal thirst for knowledge.

14. What is the secret to a happy life?

Make every day the happiest day of your life.
