Suvardio, also known as rosuvastatin, is a blood lipid-lowering medicine. Their high level increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The drug is available on prescription.

Properties of Suvardio

Suvardio falls under a category of medicines called statins. It is most often recommended for patients with high blood cholesterol levels. It is also taken by people who are at increased risk of myocardial infarction, stroke and related health problems. Rosuvastatin is used to control the level of fat in the blood.

Among the most important properties of the drug are help in reducing the so-called bad cholesterol in the blood, as well as improving the body’s ability to remove it from the blood. Too much lipids can lead to the deposition on the walls of the blood vessels and, as a result, to their closure. This results in the blood supply to the heart or brain being cut off.

Indications for taking Suvardio

The preparation is indicated for the treatment of high cholesterol levels when diet or non-pharmacological measures, such as exercise or weight loss, prove to be insufficient.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Suvardio are as follows:

Only the doctor decides about increasing the dose of Suvardio. You can change the amount of the drug you take every 4 weeks. The maximum dose of rosuvastatin is 40 mg. It is recommended for patients with high blood cholesterol levels, in whom 20 mg of the drug was not sufficient.

Suvardio tablets should be swallowed whole with water. The drug should be taken once a day at the selected time, regardless of food intake. However, the patient should try to administer the tablet at the same time each day.
