Many people associate camping and camping with canned food, ready-made beans, stuffed cabbage and tourist luncheon meat. But does it necessarily have to be so? Let us remember that when we go camping, we are limited only by our imagination. Cooking under a tent can be treated as a new culinary adventure and challenge. It is worth reaching for healthy, fresh dishes that can be prepared from several ingredients. We can also show off our creativity. It is worth taking a few basic ingredients and spices with you. However, if our stay is longer, we should look for a shop in the area where we could buy fresh products that spoil faster.
The most important thing to remember when camping is a few important rules.
1. Fun is the most important thing – that’s why let’s reach for recipes that are simple and quick to prepare. Cooking will be an additional attraction if everyone is involved in it – let everyone contribute to the meal, then it will taste better.
2. Healthy – camping does not have to be associated with tinned food. It is enough for us to take the basic ingredients from home. The fresh ones can be bought in a nearby store or from a farmer. In late spring and summer we have a large selection of fresh vegetables and fruits – it is worth using them.
3. Economically – the best way to cook at the campsite, especially dinners, are one-pot meals. We don’t have to take a full set of pots. We only need one pan and one pot. One of the easy-to-prepare, healthy and filling one-pot dishes is lecho or risotto. We can prepare them in many ways – in a vegetarian version or with meat, with the addition of many vegetables or based on one or two favorites.
4. Simplicity – sometimes it’s not worth messing with a complicated recipe. Grilled vegetables cut into thick slices or hand-composed skewers will certainly work.
5. Tradition – Baked potatoes must not be missing at the campsite. They are a bit fattening, but they taste fantastic still warm with a little salt.
6. Fishes – if we set up camp near the river and there is a fishing enthusiast with us, it is worth combining these two elements. Fish baked over a fire always tastes good. To keep it from burning, wrap it in aluminum foil. Then it will be juicy and will not dry out. You can add fresh herbs and a few slices of lemon to the inside of the fish.
7. Fruits – an interesting and original idea is a dessert on a camping trip. As a dessert, you can prepare apples baked in aluminum foil. You can add some honey to them. Bananas are also very tasty. Bananas should be baked in the skin until it turns black. It can be served with various additions: honey, cinnamon, Nutella.
8. Something for a man – on a camping trip with a man, you can’t miss meat. It is worth buying them on a regular basis. Unless we have a cooler that will allow us to keep the meat a little longer. Meat dishes can be prepared a little earlier – the meat can be marinated in spices and left overnight. Roasted over a fire the next day, they will have a rich and deep flavor.
