Sunscreen L’Oréal Paris SPF 50

We talk about the features of sunscreens of one of the most popular French brands. And we give an overview of the products and recommendations for their use.

Features of L’Oreal Paris sunscreens

The Sublime Sun L’Oréal Paris sun protection line is designed for those who cannot refuse the pleasure of sunbathing, but at the same time fear (and not in vain) sunburn and other negative consequences.

If you decide to use brand sunscreens, it is useful to know about their advantages.

  • Most brand products have a protection factor SPF 30 and SPF 50i.e. high or very high.

  • All funds are labeled UVA in a circle. This means that the formula will provide broad spectrum protection against both UVB and UVA rays.

  • For people with particularly sensitive skin, a series has been created “Extra protection” with SPF 50+.

The difference between SPF 50 and 30

Recall that the number next to the abbreviation indicates the degree of protection.

  • SPF 15 blocks 93% of ultraviolet radiation;

  • SPF 30 – 97%;

  • SPF 50 (+) — 97–98%.

The difference between SPF 30 and 50 seems tiny, but for people with fair, photosensitive, and pigmentation-prone skin, this difference makes a difference.

In the Sublime Sun line, products with SPF 50 + collected in a series “Extra Protection”. It is worth paying attention to if:

  1. you have light skin (phototype 1-2);

  2. there are signs of hyperpigmentation;

  3. there are signs of photoaging;

  4. you have sensitive skin;

  5. there is a high level of solar activity.

How long does it protect

Chemical filters (what they are and how they work can be found here) have a limited duration. So the recommendation to apply sunscreen every two hours is not an invention of marketers, but a necessity.

Why you don’t need an SPF greater than 50

Here are two compelling arguments:

  1. no cosmetic product is capable of completely blocking UV radiation;

  2. a product with SPF 50 can neutralize up to 98% of the rays, that is, almost 100%, which means that the difference between SPF 50, 80 and 100 is so small that it makes no sense to take it into account.

The products of the Sublime Sun Extra Protection line indicate SPF 50 or SPF 50+ on the packaging. The second option says that the protection factor exceeds 50.

The composition of creams with SPF 50

The line “Extra protection” not only contributes to an even and safe tan, but is also aimed at protecting against UVA rays. Why from them? Unlike short UVB rays, they do not cause burns, that is, we do not feel their influence. Nevertheless, it is, and quite aggressive: type A rays penetrate deep into the skin, damage cell DNA and cause premature wrinkling, dryness and hyperpigmentation.

To protect the skin, the Extra Protection line builds a powerful line of defense.

  • The patented Mexoryl SX molecule protects against Type A rays and, in combination with other filters, protects against a broad spectrum of ultraviolet radiation.

  • Antioxidants, in particular vitamin E and jasmine extract, neutralize free radicals that are formed in skin cells under the influence of ultraviolet radiation.

  • Effectively prevent the formation of age spots.

Application rules

Apply any sunscreen 20-30 minutes before going outside. Do not forget that in cloudy weather our skin tans just like in sunny weather, and be sure to apply sunscreen.

“It is important to reapply the cream every two hours, as well as after swimming, especially if towel dried. Only with such a scheme of use can one count on the fact that sunscreen will protect the skin from burns and photoaging, ”the expert warns. L’Oréal Paris Marina Kamanina
