Sunscreen: 6 areas of the body to remember to protect
While brushing your body with sunscreen is a reflex in summer, we tend to forget certain areas. A failure which is not without consequences. Zoom on the parts of the body not to be neglected in the event of exposure.
The hair
During the summer, we tend to let our hair sunbathe, especially to lighten it. However, the head is the part of the body which is exposed to the sun in the first place and which is associated with a risk of sunstroke in the event of no protection. It is therefore essential to protect your skull, either with a headgear or using a suitable protective spray.
A recent tattoo
Beyond six weeks, a tattoo is considered to have been properly installed and to pose no more risk than any other surface of the skin. However, before this deadline, the tattoo has not yet healed, so it deserves special attention. In practice, we opt for a sunscreen with very high protection (SPF 50+) that we apply carefully to the area and that we renew regularly. The top? Bet on healing creams with sun protection.
A scar
A scar resulting from a burn, surgery or injury requires special sun protection. Ultraviolet rays can interfere with healing and leave more significant marks on the skin. In this specific case, it is better to protect the affected area with clothing when possible, or opt for a healing sunscreen with sun protection.
The lips
They are rarely forgotten in winter as they tend to be chapped and damaged. In summer, on the other hand, we neglect them too often, while we can also get sunburned on them. There are lip sticks specially designed to protect them against UVA and UVB rays. A gesture quick to perform and easy to adopt!
Hands and feet
The hands and feet are sensitive areas that we tend to neglect. However, a sunburn in these places can be very painful and hinder the peace of our vacation. Remember that sunburn, regardless of the area of the body on which it appears, increases the risk of developing skin cancer.
The eye contour
The eye contour is an extremely fragile area due to the thinness of the skin there. However, we tend to neglect it because it is located under the sunglasses. But there is always a moment when you take off your sunglasses and that’s when it is most risky.
